There were tears aplenty in Emmerdale as Sarah Sugden’s (Katie Hill) world fell apart following her plan to put Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) behind bars for a crime she did not commit.

Charity was charged with the murder of Dr Todd (Caroline Harker) earlier this month when Sarah, furious after discovering the truth about Leyla’s parentage, incriminated her gran for the crime.

The Dingles were appalled at the level of cruelty involved in Sarah’s revenge scheme, particularly given that she is the one responsible for the death of Todd.

Tonight, she found herself under pressure to change her statement and free Charity, who was subjected to a devastating full body search in prison, which triggered a PTSD-induced panic attack.

With Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) threatening to expose the truth about Leyla and Sarah’s status as Todd’s killer, Sarah decided to spill the beans to Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) herself – and he was left devastated, ordering her to leave him alone.

Sarah lost everything.

With Sarah having told Jacob the truth, it’s safe to say that she’s got some bridges to build. But before she can focus on the future of her family, the question is: will she do the right thing and get Charity released?

Mack informed her about the ordeal Charity was subjected to in prison which left Sarah feeling guilty – guilty enough to try and make things right?

We’ll just have to wait and see.

Elsewhere, Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) continues her plot to get her hands on Jimmy’s (Nick Miles) missing cash, manipulating grieving Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) into handing over the house keys to Victoria Cottage, which she passes on to Robert (Ryan Hawley) for a burglary.

Robert follows through on the plan and almost gets caught in the house – but narrowly escapes. Sadie, meanwhile, attempts to bond with Nico.

Both her and Robert’s initial efforts prove fruitless and thus they begin to think outside the box, speculating that the cash could be somewhere in Whitby – Jimmy’s favourite place.

Sadie, however, is spooked when she spots Cain.

Up at Home Farm, Kim Tate (Claire King) is left reeling when Joe (Ned Porteous) reveals plans for a private funeral service for Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), which means the kids won’t be able to attend.

And speaking of Kim, she attempts to chase DS Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) for a progress report on the crash investigation. Will she get answers?
