Sadie King’s (Patsy Kensit) return to Emmerdale has been every bit as camp and chaotic as we would have expected, and it has already thrown up countless questions.

The one thing we all seem able to agree on, though, is that Sadie is up to something.

She’d barely been back in the village for five minutes before she dropped the major bombshell that she and Jimmy King had been together for the last three years.

So far, she has managed to convince Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) that she is telling the truth by showing her photos of Jimmy cuddling up to her.

However, recent scenes revealed that the pictures had been faked, and this new nugget of information has sent fans into a frenzy, coming up with new theories as to what Sadie is really up to.

With fans pointing out that Sadie appeared to have been using AI or Photoshop to edit the pictures of Jimmy to fake their life together, we’re left wondering what her motive could possibly be, and why she’s so desperate for everyone to believe that she and Jimmy were an item when he died…

Money, Money, Money

Of course, the number one theory floating around the internet is that Sadie is after money, especially after her card was declined in recent scenes.

Unfortunately, Jimmy wasn’t exactly flush, as Nicola is soon set to find out.

‘I think she thinks he’s got life insurance,’ Metro reader Yvonne wrote on Facebook, while Linda agreed: ‘Insurance money she’s broke.

‘After the money obviously. But she’ll be shocked as there won’t be any. I don’t get why she even thinks that she’ll be entitled anyway,’ Carol added.

However, others were quick to point out a major flaw in this theory.

‘No money yet flies in on a helicopter…’ Gaz said, while Andy echoed: ‘Cashflow issues, but she arrived in a helicopter? Ok.’

Half a story

Other fans have been speculating that Sadie has been partly telling the truth, but that she has majorly exaggerated her relationship with Jimmy.

Following last week’s flashback that proved she and Jimmy had been in contact with one another, Metro readers are sure that she was simply playing on his kind-heartedness.

‘I don’t believe they were having an affair, I think Jimmy was helping her for some reason,’ Donna theorised, while Andy speculated: ‘Ai photos tend to warp the people so i think he was looking after her, just not cheating.’

Jean pointed out another flaw in Sadie’s story, adding: ‘He simply was not away long enough to be ‘living ‘with Sadie, and he was handing over cash , maybe because he knew she was hard up. Jimmy was always a soft touch for a sob story.’

Health issues

There are several viewers who wonder if Sadie could genuinely believe that she and Jimmy were together due to a health condition, like young-onset dementia.

‘I think she’s got the onset of dementia. But I’m probably wrong,’ Cat wrote, while Jackie asked: ‘Could she have dementia and believe what she thinks is real?’

Team work makes the dream work

Another theory Metro readers have had is that she isn’t working alone, and is somehow linked to Caleb and Ruby Miligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly).

‘I think she’s involved with caleb somehow maybe,’ Sally said, with Cathie replying: ‘I was thinking caleb got in touch with her to get the money back he’d paid jimmy and she’d keep a percentage.’

‘Jimmy knew what she was like before so why would he go back to her after years apart? She’s working with someone in village Ruby maybe,’ Christine added.

All of these theories certainly sound plausible, and we wouldn’t put anything past Sadie King. We’ll just have to see how things play out…
