Stacey Solomon has shared a glimpse inside her new fixer-upper home – and fans reckon it has a creepy atmosphere.

The TV personality and X Factor star, 36, announced last week that she and husband Joe Swash, 44, are moving out of their famous Pickle Cottage in Essex, much to everyone’s shock.

They moved into the £1.3million home five years ago, and Stacey has documented every renovation, DIY, and customisation for her adoring followers.

Pickle Cottage also became a special backdrop for many milestones, as Stacey and Joe married there in 2022 and their two youngest daughters, Rose and Belle, were born at home.

But the couple decided they wanted larger outdoor space to rescue animals, including horses, and grow vegetables, leading them to purchase a new £2m mansion.

Having already revealed the front porch, Stacey has now given us a tour of the property’s upstairs – and it’s very colourful.

Taking to Instagram, the Sort Your Life Out host filmed two of her children running around and exploring as they uncovered various vintage gems left by the previous owners. These included old dominoes, a film projector, and a tennis racket.

Currently, a ladder is needed to access the top floor of the house, which has bedrooms painted vibrant yellow and features small coal fireplaces.

Stacey also filmed inside the bathroom, which she admittedly ‘loves’, despite its garish orange decor and retro tiling.

‘I’m gonna do something with that; I know I am,’ she teased about future crafty projects.

As she took her camera into one of the other bedrooms, she joked that the TV on the wall was ‘from [her] childhood’, as it is pretty old-fashioned, adding that the past inhabitants ‘left quite a bit of stuff behind’.

She panned around to a massive old boiler and shelving units, which the family has already been ‘rooting through’.

‘I don’t think they ever came up here,’ Stacey said. ‘I think it was just used as storage, so we had a treasure hunt!’

Her little ones rummaged through the discarded items, discovering a war book and a horse riding helmet, with Stacey promising to clean the hat up for a new lease of life.

It’s fair to say the Loose Women panellist clearly has a vision, but she’s still asking her followers for their thoughts.

She wrote in the caption, ‘I need your opinion. Is that orange bath suite nice? Because I love it’, also wanting to know whether she should keep or bin the 80s television.

‘It actually makes me feel so happy & nostalgic when I look at it 😂’, Stacey said.

After sharing her first snippet of a house tour, Stacey was inundated with comments, most of which were excited to see the house’s improvements, while others admitted it was giving them the heebie-jeebies.

‘The bathroom looks like something out of the shining…’, wrote @lilmissmoodypop, calling it a ‘ghost house’.

@thoughtandmore said the top floor looks ‘terrifying’, while @lindab1102 quipped: ‘Hope there isn’t an old doll any where 🤣’

‘Creeps me out that there’s a whole floor with bedrooms only accessible with a ladder hmmmm 🙄’, @emmadecoranddisorder penned.

‘Stacey has moved into the backrooms 😂’, joked @betharth due to the yellow walls.

Nevertheless, several commenters noted that the home has ‘potential’ and is a ‘blank canvas’, with no doubt that Stacey will totally transform it.

Taking to her Instagram Story after reading the responses, she later teased that the rest of the house isn’t any less eerie, saying: ‘Your comments are cracking me up.

‘I’m like, “Wow, if they think this is creepy, wait until they see the rest of the house.”

‘Maybe that’s it. I’ve been like, “Oh, why are the kids being so weird about this?” Now I’m like, “It’s not just them!”‘

‘I get it,’ she laughed, adding: ‘It won’t be creepy. Imagine a bit of paint, furnishings… it won’t be creepy forever! And it is actually really homely, especially the downstairs.’

And she’s wasted no time in styling it to make the bare house feel as welcoming as possible, adding a wreath and autumnal ornaments to the front entrance, which complement the multi-coloured geometric floor tiles.

There may be a long way to go until the new Solomon-Swash residence is complete, and it certainly needs more than a ‘Home sweet home’ doormat to erase those ghostly vibes, but we’re excited to see what it turns into…
