A return to Hope Street grows near in the form of a feature-length film which is set to ‘tie up loose ends’, with new images teasing what’s to come.

The popular BBC series, which follows the police department and local residents in the fictional town of Port Devine, debuted in 2021 and amassed a big following, with five series and over 50 episodes now under its belt.

It will now hit the big screen with a one-off adventure entitled One Of our Own – A Hope Street film, which will see a number of the show’s iconic characters back once more.

Fist look images reveal what audiences can expect from One Of Our Own, with A Woman Of Substance star Niall Wright – who starred in the first four series – reprising his role as Callum McCarthy.

Callum has come a long way since he was last on our screens at the end of the fourth series and is now a Detective Constable.

The film, which will screen later this year following a limited theatrical release, will see an assault take place in broad daylight, which brings Callum back to Port Devine in order to investigate.

Cameron Cuffe, who joined Hope Street during the fifth series as new police constable Donal Gallagher, will also star in the movie, making this the first time Callum and Donal will interact on-screen together – and an image of said interaction can be seen above.

Callum is determined to get to the bottom of what happened and who is to blame but he’s soon tasked with delivering bad news to former colleague and best mate Marlene Pettigrew (Kerri Quinn) as he suspects that her love interest might be involved.

Over at The Commodore, Nicole Devine-Dunwoody (Niamh McGrady) has a new admirer while a wedding is on the horizon.

Paddy Raff joins the cast as the pub’s new chef Malcolm while Letitia Hector will play Marlene’s love interest Anna Baptiste. Tim McGarry will appear in a cameo role as Port Devine’s minister the Reverend Dodds.

Finnian Garbutt, who played PC Ryan Power in Hope Street’s latest three series, will appear in a scene he filmed earlier in the year before his death.

Discussing the film, Mary McKeagney – Commissioning Editor BBC Northern Ireland – said previously: ‘We hope this feature length film will provide the perfect opportunity to tie up some loose ends for fans.

‘And with some new characters thrown into the mix, I’m sure there will be plenty of drama in Port Devine!’

One Of our Own – A Hope Street film will release in cinemas later this year. Hope Street series 1 – 5 can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
