If you’re desperate to see what happens next after that Emmerdale cliffhanger, I’m afraid we’ve got some bad news for you.
The ITV soap delivered yet another action-packed outing this evening (Monday, September 7), which saw the fallout of Charity Dingle’s (Emma Atkins) colossal confession.
The Woolpack icon, as viewers know, told granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) – who she was a surrogate mother for – that baby Leyla isn’t hers, revealing how she slept with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) after the embryo transfer didn’t take.
Sarah’s world fell apart and, after assembling together everyone who knew the secret, she attempted to come up with a way forward – before ordering Charity out of her life once and for all.
Sadie King (Patsy Kensit), meanwhile, managed to get on Nicola’s (Nicola Wheeler) good side – but it seems her claims that Jimmy (Nick Miles) had a secret relationship with her for three years might not be as accurate as she’s making out.

If you’re eager to see the fallout of tonight then you’re going to have to wait a little while longer as we have some bad news – there is no new Emmerdale episode on tomorrow.
The ITV soap – alongside Coronation Street – are missing from Tuesday’s (September 8) schedules due to the National Television Awards, which air live in the soaps’ usual slots.
Emmedale will be back on Wednesday. To tide you over until then, here’s what’s to come.
What happens next in Emmerdale? Spoilers for Wednesday, September 9 episode
The bad news isn’t just the lack of episode tomorrow as when we next visit the Dales, things take a devastating turn for Charity.
If you thought she was dealing with a lot at home then just wait until you hear what’s in store for her in upcoming scenes.
The much-loved show legend, who took the blame for Sarah accidentally killing Dr Todd, finds herself in deeper trouble with the law following DS Ramsden’s (Chelsea Edge) inquiries.
The situation escalates rather dramatically and Charity is charged with murder, put behind bars and placed on remand. Devastated, she realises that she is running out of options.
The question is: what developments have there been in order for the police to charge Charity? And how is she going to get out of this one?
Will killer Sarah speak up? Or after everything that has transpired, will she refrain from helping out?
Elsewhere in the village, Nicola is feeling anxious over rising funeral costs for Jimmy’s service and thus she seek Jimmy’s haulage shares.
However, the cafe owner left in shock when she discovers from Caleb (William Ash) that Jimmy secretly sold the shares in question for untaxed cash – but continued running the business to maintain appearances.
With the cash from the sale missing, will Nicola uncover what is really going on? And will Sadie find out?
Emmerdale airs these scenes Wednesday, September 9 at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX or YouTube.
