Jaws were dropped and lives were turned upside down in Emmerdale as Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) staged her-long awaited return to the village, wasting little time in leaving chaos in her wake.

The legendary show schemer, last seen in the village two decades ago, arrived on a helicopter and informed grieving widow Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) that dead husband Jimmy (Nick Miles) had been leading a double life.

Sadie claimed that Jimmy had been seeing her for three years behind Nicola’s back. Horrified, Nicola refused to believe such claims but Sadie, as ever, was highly convincing.

Is there any truth to it?

Elsewhere, Kim Tate (Claire King) was unnerved by DS Thea Ramsden’s (Chelsea Edge) vendetta against her, believing it to be personal.

Of course, she’s absolutely right, with viewers having learned earlier this week that the new detective is Kim’s long-lost daughter.

Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), meanwhile, was horrible once more to Lucas as he continues to mourn Dawn.

The next episode will see Nicola attempt to come to terms with Sadie’s claims that Jimmy had been living a double life for over three years, having secretly reunited with ex Sadie behind her back.

The grieving widow will go out of her way to find out more and upcoming scenes across the next week will see her suspicions deepen as she grows concerned Sadie might have been telling the truth after all.

‘Once she starts discovering what’s been going on, the grieving process stops, and suddenly she’s thrown into doubting her husband,’ said star Nicola Wheeler.

‘She doesn’t know who he is anymore.’

Elsewhere, will Joe be able to process his grief over Dawn’s demise and stop taking it out on Lucas and Clemmie? Can Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) and Kim convince him to go to the hospital to see his newborn son?

And as for Kim, will she work out who DS Ramsden really is and the reason for her vendetta? What’s more, will Ramsden succeed in her plot to frame Kim for the crash which claimed the lives of Dawn and Jimmy?

In terms of other storylines, tomorrow’s episode will see Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) work hard on trying to maintain their lie over how Dr Todd (Caroline Harker) met her demise.

Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) talks to Sarah about how Charity will be feeling in the wake of claiming a life, unaware that he’s describing the feelings of Todd’s actual killer – who is right beside him.

Will Sarah be able to let gran Charity take the fall for something she didn’t do?
