EastEnders fans are wondering whether one former Albert Square resident could somehow be heading back to Walford, despite being killed off six years ago.

Bleu Landau, who played Sharon Watts’ son Dennis ‘Denny’ Rickman Jr, has got viewers talking after teasing that something exciting is on the horizon.

The 21-year-old actor appeared in the BBC soap between 2015 and 2020, before Denny met a tragic end during EastEnders’ dramatic 35th anniversary episodes.

Taking to Instagram, Bleu teased his followers about his next move, writing: ‘Exciting things coming.. stay tuned’, alongside eyes and love heart emojis.

While there was nothing to confirm that his mystery project has anything to do with EastEnders, it didn’t stop fans from making the connection.

One person joked in the comments: ‘Resurrecting from the river’, referencing the character’s watery demise.

Denny’s death remains one of the soap’s most shocking in recent years, particularly because of his connection to one of Walford’s most famous families.

The youngster was the son of Sharon Watts and Dennis Rickman Sr, making him the grandson of original EastEnders bad boy Den Watts.

Denny was killed during the soap’s 35th anniversary celebrations in February 2020, when a party boat on the River Thames was involved in a devastating accident.

Things descended into chaos after a confrontation between Phil Mitchell and Keanu Taylor, with the boat eventually crashing.

But Denny was in an especially dangerous position when disaster struck.

Before the crash, Ian Beale had locked him below deck in a cabin as punishment for his treatment of Ian’s son Bobby.

As water began filling the boat, Ian desperately attempted to get Denny out and managed to unlock the door.

However, Denny was unable to make it to safety and drowned.

The tragedy came at an already life-changing moment for Sharon, who was giving birth to her son Albie as the disaster unfolded.

Denny’s death also had major consequences for Ian and Sharon’s relationship when the truth about Ian’s involvement eventually emerged.

And it seems Bleu himself isn’t completely ruling out another appearance in Walford.

Earlier this year, the former soap star teased the possibility of a return while sharing some behind-the-scenes EastEnders secrets with fans on TikTok.

Bleu revealed that when scenes are being filmed inside the Queen Vic, actors can see into the café when looking down the bar because the sets are positioned next to each other.

He also explained how filming worked when he was a child actor, revealing he would arrive two hours before filming and stay for two hours afterwards to ensure his schoolwork was completed.

But one fan was more interested in whether Denny could ever make an unlikely comeback.

Asked about returning to the soap, Bleu replied: ‘Well obviously, as you know, if you did watch, Dennis died on the boat party for the 35th anniversary.

‘So it’ll make it a little bit hard for me to come back to EastEnders.

‘However, we know how the show goes, you can never count it out, can we?’

He then played the soap’s unmistakable Duff Duff, adding fuel to the speculation.

Of course, bringing Denny back permanently would require EastEnders to explain how he survived a death that appeared pretty definitive.

But Walford has never been short of surprises, and Bleu certainly seems happy to keep fans guessing about what could come next.
