Emmerdale spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (September 2) episode that is now available to view on ITVX and YouTube. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 8pm.
The residents of Emmerdale were left in shock – as I imagine were the viewers at home – as Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) waltzed back into the eponymous village (via helicopter, no less) after two decades away.
The legendary show schemer claimed that she had no agenda as she arrived at the site of the crash where Jimmy King (Nick Miles) lost his life, dressed in all black as she placed a singular red rose on the ground.
Her unexpected comeback got tongues wagging, with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) horrified to see her old nemesis after more than 20 years since they last crossed paths.
Nicola (Nicola Wheeler), meanwhile, wanted to know why Sadie was back after all this time, confronting her in The Woolpack in front of everyone.
Sadie stated that she was paying her respects to Jimmy, who she’d been in a relationship with for the past three years. The scales well and truly fell from Nico’s eyes – not to mention everyone else’s – as she attempted to process such a claim, refusing to believe it.

The villagers were rendered speechless as Nicola – who confirmed that she and Jimmy were happily married – ordered her to elaborate. Sadie appeared shocked, stating that she had no idea they were still together, with Jimmy having told her years ago that they’d split.
Speculation was rife among the punters, who all wondered if there were any truth to Sadie’s claims. Nicola ardently defended Jimmy, reiterating that he would never cheat on her.
But after kicking Sadie out, she broke down in tears, unsure of who to believe. The question is: is Sadie being honest? Has Jimmy been leading a double life all this time?
Jimmy met a tragic end last week when his car veered into the marquee where Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) was set to wed Joe Tate (Ned Porteous).
Nicola was by his side as he took his last breath, holding his hand as Jimmy imagined what life would have been like had they had the opportunity to renew their wedding vows and spend the rest of their lives together.
With that in mind, would Jimmy really betray his beloved Nico in such a brutal fashion? Or is Sadie up to her old tricks?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX and YouTube.
