While there are certain products that I switch up when it comes to my hair – most notably shampoo, because my hair tends to need different things at different times – the rest remain consistent. These are the products I repurchase time and time again.

I use dry shampoo for a variety of reasons – to perk up my hair between washes, to get rid of that slippery, freshly washed feeling post-shower, and just for giving it a general “juj”. I’ve been loyal to Klorane Oat Milk Dry Shampoo Non-Aerosol Powder (€14.50 from millies.ie) for many years.

It’s incredibly gentle on the scalp thanks to the powder formula – and quite a lot can be used without causing irritation or build-up – and it’s affordable. In Ireland, a bottle will set you back about €15. However, if you find yourself in France – I was there during the summer and stocked up in a local pharmacy – it’s several euro cheaper.

Color Wow Raise The Root Thicken and Lift Spray (€28 from Arnotts) first came into my life 10 years ago, recommended by a hairdresser friend. I duly bought it, loved it and used it for a long time. Other similar products came to market over the years, many of which I tried – but none could compare to this one.

It achieves the type of root lift that can otherwise only be attained through some strategic backcombing. I spritz it into the roots of damp hair, take my hair dryer and a round brush and start blasting the hair upwards. The effect is sensational, and it leaves no residue behind.

The Belle Brush

Committed as I was to Tangle Teaser hairbrushes for many years, I have now permanently replaced them with brushes from The Belle Brush. I repurchased one recently because my teenager had taken a shine to mine and, as a result, I could never find it. So, I bought him one of his own.

The brushes are so well crafted. They don’t pull or drag on the hair; they’re gentle on the scalp, hair extension-friendly, and weigh next to nothing. There are different sizes, too. There’s the bigger, original Belle Brush (€26 from thebellebrush.com), The Baby Belle (€22.50), which is my favourite, and then The Palm Brush (€22.50), which I always have in my handbag. It takes up very little space and is perfect for smoothing your hair on the go.

GHD Curve Tong

Many hair styling tools have come and gone for me over the years. While there are still some noteworthy ones in my arsenal, including the Dyson, my preference for quick and easy day-to-day waves has always been the GHD Curve Tong (€175 from Peter Mark).

It’s high performance, easy to use and, having owned one of the original GHD straighteners for more than 20 years, I’m not in any way surprised that it’s as durable and hard-wearing as it is.

Kevin Murphy Bedroom Hair Texturising Hairspray

If I had known how many tins of Kevin Murphy Bedroom Hair Texturising Hairspray (€29 from millies.ie) I would buy over the years, I would have bought shares.

I use texture spray every day, with the same frequency and commitment as brushing my teeth. It’s a non-negotiable for me for adding volume and movement and a little bit of oomph to the hair. I’ve possibly tried every texture spray on the market and, while many are excellent, none has exceeded Kevin Murphy Bedroom Hair.

It texturises wonderfully, while allowing your hair to retain softness and movement. It smells incredible. The packaging is appealing. I come back to it again and again.
