Sir, – I was very sorry to read that Sarah Moss had written her last column for The Irish Times (“Being hated on the internet has begun to tint my life, sleep and thoughts”, Weekend, September 5th).

I have very much enjoyed her writing, and the column led me to read her books, which I have also found thought-provoking and illuminating. Her writings on identity have resonated with me, having a similar background to hers.

It is very sad that abuse on social media should have brought Sarah’s column to an end. As an elderly white male who generally found myself in agreement with her views on food, transport etc. I regret its ending, and wish Sarah all the very best in her future works. – Yours, etc,

BILL REDMOND,
