Wexford County Council could yet again be left to foot a bill of thousands of euro after a bus stop at the Min Ryan Park was yet again targeted by vandals.
On several occasions since its installation, the bus shelter at Min Ryan Park, often used by students at the nearby Loreto Secondary School, saw its large glass panels smashed.
On this occasion, a number of the panels were smashed and shattered, with sharp shards left lying around the seating and footpath, in proximity to the busiest playground in the county.
Having been contacted by members of the public, Fine Gael councillor Robbie Staples was frustrated that the public amenity is being constantly targeted.
“This is completely mindless behaviour,” he said. “The amount of broken glass left on the ground posed a real safety hazard for anyone waiting on a bus or even walking past going to the park.”
The Wexford councillor immediately contacted Wexford County Council crews to clear the debris and look at repairing the damage, with the local authority once again looking at a significant bill.
