Gardai have appealed for witnesses to a horror crash that left a man dead.
The incident happened on the Dublin Road at Smithstown, near Julianstown, Co Meath between 1.30am and 2.30am on Saturday, 15th August last.
It was a three vehicle collision and a man in his fifties was taken from the scene by ambulance to Our Lourdes Hospital with serious injuries.
However, Gardai have confirmed that sadly the man died on September 4 last. A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.
The scene of the crash was subjected to a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The Gardai in a statement said: “A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
“ Road users who may have camera footage including dash cam and were travelling on the R132 near Smithstown, Julianstown, Co Meath between 1.30am and 2.30am on Saturday, August 15 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.
