Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions are still outstanding in the case of a Wicklow man accused of driving a stolen car with false registration plates.
Michael Moorehouse (18), of Cooldross, Kilcoole, Co Wicklow, appeared at a sitting of Bray District Court charged with unauthorised use of a vehicle, having no insurance and one count of not having a valid driving licence.
It is alleged that on Wednesday, June 10, the defendant was observed by gardaí in Kilpedder driving a stolen 2024 Volkswagen Golf with false registration plates.
The car was later recovered near Mr Moorehouse’s home address, where he allegedly asked gardaí what they were doing and was then arrested.
Sergeant Mick Canavan told the court that directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) are still outstanding to decide whether the matter will go before the Circuit Criminal Court, which has harsher sentencing penalties.
Judge Mary McAveety adjourned the matter until December 7 for directions from the DPP.
