Hello and welcome to Tolka Park where in the last hour, the weather has turned from warm and sunny to wet and miserable ahead of tonight’s clash between Shelbourne and Drogheda.
It is a fitting backdrop for a Shels home game as their record here has also been miserable this year. They currently have the joint-worst home record with just three wins from 15 games in 2026, with last Friday’s 1-0 defeat here to Derry City (an injury-time concession) summing up the story of their campaign here at Tolka this term.
Home wins have been few and far between but three points is simply a must if John Russell’s men are to maintain their faint hopes of securing fourth, which will only be enough for Europe if Bohemians win the FAI Cup. The Reds boss is still searching for his first domestic win since taking charge, with this his sixth attempt.
Drogheda meanwhile come to the capital buoyed by a crucial 2-0 win over Sligo Rovers last Friday. Kevin Doherty’s side remain in ninth but are now eight points clear of automatic relegation, as they look to cut the gap on Waterford (two points ahead) and Galway United (three points ahead) above them.
There’s three Shels changes to report as Sean Moore, Jack Henry-Francis and Sean Boyd come in for Ali Coote, JJ Lunney and Mipo Odubeko.

There are four Premier Division matches taking place tonight, with eyes on Oriel Park where St Patrick’s Athletic can go top of the table – on goal difference at least – with victory over Dundalk. Neither fellow chasers Bohemians or Shamrock Rovers play tonight.
Elsewhere, Sligo Rovers are in dire need of a victory if they are to have any realistic chance of staying in the top flight. They host Galway United at The Showgrounds while Waterford (at home to Derry City) and Drogheda United (facing Shelbourne at Tolka Park) are battling to get out of the relegation picture too.
