Three women charged after being arrested at Donald Trump’s Doonbeg golf course
Three women have appeared in court charged with offences after being arrested at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, Co Clare.
On Friday evening, a woman in her 20s was arrested for trespassing on the golf links.
On Saturday, two women, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested for public order offences on the golf links.
Gardaí said all three women appeared before a special sitting of Ennis District Court on Saturday evening.
No other arrests have been made at the golf course, where the Irish Open is taking place and US president Donald Trump is currently staying during his visit to Ireland.
A significant policing operation in Co Clare remains in operation today, with restrictions on traffic and movement in west Clare in place, particularly in the area surrounding Doonbeg and Trump International Golf Links and Hotel.
There will also be additional security checks in the surrounds of Shannon Airport, with passengers advised to allow extra travel time for their journeys on Sunday.
Gardaí have said their security operation “should not impact significantly” on Shannon town, though this is subject to any protests “which might expand into the environs of Shannon town”.

So, what happened last night?
US president Donald Trump was given a rapturous reception as he made a brief appearance in the members’ bar of the hotel at his golf resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare last night.
Punters cheered, chanted: “USA” and sang songs as Mr Trump filed through the bar on Saturday night.
And there was a rendition of ‘Fields of Athenry’ as the US president walked from one end of the bar to the other.

‘Not accidental’: Donald Trump raised his views on Irish unity in private with leaders before controversial comments
Donald Trump raised the issue of Irish unity in his private meetings with both Taoiseach Micheál Martin and President Catherine Connolly before making his public comments that a united Ireland “is going to happen”.
Coalition sources have suggested that the US president’s remarks that he would “love” to see Irish unity were “not accidental” and reflect previously expressed views on the issue.
The Taoiseach yesterday sought to quell tensions after Trump’s comments sparked outrage among unionists and drew a quick rebuke from the British prime minister.
There is no doubt that the US president’s intervention puts pressure on Irish-British relations…

Sunday protests
There are protests planned for both Doonbeg and Shannon again today.
Protesters were expected to gather at 7am in Doonbeg, but the majority of people are not expected until 10am.
It is understood people will travel to Shannon Airport to coincide with Trump’s return flight to the US.

Trump in Doonbeg Day 2
Good morning all – it’s the morning after the day before. The Trump visit analysis is well underway – and the golf continues.
US President Donald Trump is to be reunited with Taoiseach Micheál Martin later today at the Irish Open golf tournament in Co Clare.
Mr Martin will be there alongside other senior members of the Government, including Minister for Sport Patrick O’Donovan and Minister of State for Sport Charlie McConalogue.
President Trump is expected to award the trophy to the winning golfer around teatime.
For now, we’ll have plenty more news and analysis on the second day of our live news blog on ‘Trump in Ireland’.

A major anti-Trump demonstration in Dublin has finished
A major protest in Dublin against Donald Trump’s visit to Ireland has finished.
Thousands of people marched through the city to voice opposition against the US president’s trip.
The event concluded with a rally on Molesworth Street, outside the front of the Dáil parliament.
Activists and politicians gave speeches denouncing Mr Trump while musicians played songs and the crowd chanted in opposition to the president.

Small anti-Trump protest continues at Shannon Airport
Many of the demonstrators said they will join protesters in Doonbeg in the morning, before coming back to Shannon as the US president will leave the country.
It seems nobody will remain overnight, but a few will stay a bit longer and many are promising to come back tomorrow.
Among them is 91-year-old activist Lelia Doolan, who was also at the Peace Roundabout today. In April, the activist completed a 220km walk from Clare to Dublin protesting the US military’s use of Shannon Airport.A small group of gardai remain in place at the Peace Roundabout but is not affecting traffic as cars are back travelling in the area.
Many are also honking in solidarity with the protest.
