Liam Nolan has made a bright start to life on Day Three with a pair of birdies on the fourth and fifth in succession. That was followed up with a bogey on the par-4 sixth, but it still leaves him on 1-under for the day and overall. After Friday’s excitement and the dreaded cut – which resulted in six Irish golfers falling by the wayside in Doonbeg – it’s up to the likes of Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy and Tom McKibbin to carry the flag on home soil. 

After yesterday’s round of 69 which failed to really ignite, Rory McIlroy tees off alongside Frenchman Romain Langasque and Adrian Meronk of Poland at 1:08pm.

Equalling the course record with an 8-under 62 yesterday, Shane Lowry tops the leaderboard and starts with China’s Li Haotong and Jacob Skov Olsen of Denmark at 2:30pm.

The 55-year-old recorded his first birdie of the day on the tenth, but gave it str back with a bogey on 11 to drop back to +4, where he remains after a par on 12.
