Syndicate used the same set of numbers for years
A lucky lotto player in Co. Wexford has claimed almost €192,000 after using the same set of numbers for years in the lotto draw.
A dream come true, convincing the group the lotto win was real proved to be quite the challenge for this Wexford syndicate.
The syndicate in Wexford claimed an incredible €191,677 prize after matching five numbers plus the Bonus number in the Lotto draw which took place on Wednesday, August 12.
The winning National Lottery ticket was purchased in XL Gorey, which is located on 70, Gorey Main Street, Co. Wexford.
The lucky winners have been playing the lotto using the same set of numbers for years, said the winning combination was inspired by a mix of family birthdays and house numbers.
The lucky player matched five numbers, along with the bonus number in the draw. The winning numbers were 02, 07, 11, 13, 17 and 33, while 01 was the bonus number.
One member recalled the moment they realised they had won over €191,000. “I sat down with a coffee the morning after the draw to check the ticket. When I saw the result, I genuinely thought I was mistaken.
“I checked it five times, walked away, came back again and checked it another few times. I just couldn’t believe it,” the syndicate said.
Still in shock, the winner immediately contacted the rest of the syndicate members to share the news of the win, where they said convincing them the win was legitimate proved to be another challenge.
“I rang the syndicate straight away, but nobody believed me at first. We were all trying to get our heads around it. It’s one of those moments you dream about but never really expect to happen,” they added.
While the syndicate plans to take some time before making any major decisions, one idea has been clearly laid out. “We’ve always talked about going to Vietnam, and now it looks like that dream could become a reality. A trip next year is definitely something we’ll be looking at.”
