Times of Masses and Blessed Sacrament Adoration: Weekday Masses are celebrated at 10am from Tuesday to Friday, and at 5pm (Vigil) on Saturday. There is no celebration of 10am morning Mass on Mondays and Saturdays. On Mondays Evening Mass is celebrated at 7pm with Adoration of Blessed Sacrament from 6pm to 7pm. Sunday Masses are celebrated at 10am, 12pm, and 6pm. All Masses are available online at www.stannesparishshankill.com through the link ‘Watch Us Live.’ A Holy Hour takes place from 6pm to 7pm on Mondays, from 8pm to 9pm on Thursdays and from 10.30am to 11.30am on Fridays.
First Saturdays of the Month only: Mass is celebrated at 10am–Confessions are heard from 9.15am to 9.45am beforehand.
Irish Mass: A Mass in Irish is celebrated at 9am on Sunday mornings in St. Peter’s Church, Little, Bray.
The Rosary: This is prayed Monday to Saturday mornings from 9.30am. All are welcome.

Blessing of the School Bags: Takes place at the 10am Family Mass this Sunday. Children are invited to bring their schoolbags to this Family Mass. Each child starting or returning to school will receive a special blessing, a gift and a treat.
St. Joseph Men’s Camino: Every Camino changes us in ways we don’t expect, every man needs one. Join men from across Ireland this Saturday for a 25km pilgrimage through the Boyne Valley, beginning in Drogheda. Bethany Bereavement Support Group – Shankill: The Bethany Bereavement Support Group is running a free five-week bereavement support programme from 8pm to 9.30pm in St. Anne’s Resource Centre beginning Tuesday September 22nd with sessions continuing on Tuesday September 29th, Tuesday October 6th, Tuesday 13th and Tuesday October 20th. If you are experiencing the pain of any kind of loss, the Bethany Bereavement Team offers free support and consolation in a safe and confidential environment where healing can begin. Bethany is a free listening service provided by trained volunteers in the community, offering a space to listen, share and connect with others who understand. Grief can follow many different kinds of loss, including the loss of a loved one, loss of health, miscarriage, loss of safety following trauma, divorce or relationship breakdown, loss of a job or financial stability, retirement, or a loved one’s serious illness. Confessions: These are heard in Sts Alphonsus & Columba church from 4pm to 4.30pm each Saturday. The Parish is hosting Dr. Jessie Rogers, Lecturer in Sacred Scripture, St. Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth, to support our faith development. Dr. Rogers will speak about the great poetry of the Psalms in the Church of the Apostles, Ballybrack, at 7.30pm next Thursday September 3rd, Thursday November 5th, and on a further date in January 2027 which has yet to be confirmed.

The autumn programme of Rathmichael Historical Society lectures will commence on Wednesday October 7th at 8pm when Brian Lacey will present ‘Origin of the O’Neill and the O’Donnell dynasties’ in Rathmichael National School. All are welcome – admission is €5 for non-members.

First Saturday Book Sale
The October Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Seniors Day Centre, takes place from 10am to 1pm on Saturday October 3rd in the Shankill Seniors Day Centre, Lower Road, Shankill.
Donations of books, which must be in a clean and good condition, are restricted to one small bag per donor due to storage issues, and can be only handed into the Book Sale that Saturday morning.
Foxrock Local History Club
Peadar McGing will recall ‘The Seapoint Tragedy’ at 8pm next Tues in Foxrock Parish Pastoral Centre. All are welcome–admission is €5.
At about 7pm on June 30th 1890, James O’Connor, a prominent journalist with the United Irishman newspaper, was chairing a meeting of a charity he was supporting. Meanwhile, at his home at 1 Seapoint Avenue, some of his children went to gather mussels from a nearby pond but unfortunately after eating the mussels, the family rapidly became unwell. When James arrived home at about 9pm, he was met by a scene of utter devastation.
This talk will detail the story of the O’Connor family tragedy, discuss mussel poisoning and its treatment at the time versus today, the laboratory investigations carried out by Dr. Edmond McWeeney and Sir Charles Cameron, and tell some of the side stories of the survivors.
Classical Music Club
Meetings resume tonight (Wednesday) after the summer break from 7.45pm to 10pm, including a tea-break, in the Shankill Seniors Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, 100m from the main street–car parking is available.
The music will be as always a varied programme of classical music on CDs, covering many genres–orchestral, instrumental, vocal, opera etc.–in a friendly setting. Visitors and new and returning members are always welcome. You don’t need to be an expert! Charge €5 on the night (waived for first visit).
