Exercise with Sarah

Chair Exercise classes with Sarah restart this September in Adamstown, Newbawn and Ballykelly week commencing September 7th. They will run on Mondays & Thursdays 10:00-11:00am in Adamstown Community Centre; Wednesday mornings 10:00-11:00am in Newbawn Hall and Ballykelly Hall on Thursday evenings 7-8pm.

This is an Age & Ability “inclusive” class for women that encourages movement to build strength, increase mobility, flexibility, balance, coordination.

The Thursday night Card Game continues in the Community Centre each week at 8pm.

Cemetery Committee–Important Notice

Please help keep our Parish Cemetery clean and tidy by taking home any withered flowers and wreaths, instead of leaving them by the wall at the entrance from the cemetery into the Church grounds. Remembering our beloved dead is important, and so too is caring for this sacred space.

All old flowers, wreaths, pots and other waste should be taken home for proper disposal, as there is no bin collection service available in the cemetery. Thank you for your co-operation.

Church Altars & Decorations: Thanks to the ladies from Oldcourt for looking after the Church & Altars for the month of August. It is now the turn of parishioners from Brocurra for the month of September.

BALLYCULLANE

Tintern Lotto

There was no jackpot winner and no match three winner of the Tintern Lotto last week when the numbers drawn were 3, 4, 24 and 25. The jackpot remains at €20,000 while the reserve jackpot rises to €2,900.

Gusserane GAA

Hard luck to the Gusserane senior footballers who suffered their second loss of the campaign in their final group game against Shelmaliers on Sunday last. A blistering start saw Gusserane storm in to an early lead against the breeze but Shels eventually got to grips with the Gusserane threat and they end up top of the group with our lads in second place.

Well done to the junior footballers who emerged with a narrow victory against a determined Naomh Eanna team to cement their position at the top of the group.

Both teams are now through to the quarter finals, as are the intermediate A hurlers.

All Ireland Rounders Champions

Huge congratulations to the Gusserane men’s junior Rounders team who defeated Myshall of Carlow in the All Ireland final in Offaly at the weekend. The fledgeling club continues to go from strength to strength and the men have now graduated to compete at intermediate level next year. Well done to all involved.

Tuesday Treat Day

The last Tuesday Treat Day of the summer takes place on Tuesday, 15th September from 11am at the St Louis Day Care Centre in Ramsgrange. Give yourself a day out and enjoy music and dancing along with a three course lunch. The cost of the lunch is €12. Booking is essential. Phone 051 389509 to book.

BANNOW-BALLYMITTY

Sad passing

Deepest sympathy to Cathy Staunton and family Carrig on Bannow on the death of her son John Staunton in the UK last week. He is survived by his mother Cathy, sisters Mary and Helen, brother Liam, Pat and Luke, his daughters Jennifer and Sharon and son Paul, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

John’s removal will take place on 17th September to Our Lady of Lourdes with requiem mass on Friday at 11am with interment afterwards at Widney Manor. May he rest in peace.

Social Dancing

Dancing continues in Carrig on Bannow Community Centre on Wednesday 9th September with music by Philip English, Wednesday 16th Colin Kenny, Wednesday 23rd Tom and Niamh Murphy and Wednesday 30th John Kenny and the all stars 4 piece band. Dancing from 9pm to 11pm–refreshments served–all welcome.

Slimming world is every Wednesday 5.30 till 7.30pm.

Dance Fit classes every Thursday night.

Monday Night Bingo – Ballymitty Drive-in Bingo continues on Monday nights at 8pm, Ballymitty Church Carpark.

Womens Shed – We meet Monday mornings from 10am to 12pm. All welcome to come join.

Mens Shed–Thursdays from 7.30pm to 9pm in Ballymitty Hall. All welcome.

GAA Club news

Irish Heart Foundation September Challenge: Mary O’Brien has registered for the Irish Heart Foundation 60km or miles, walking/running challenge for the month of September 2026, and she is hoping there are other people in the Wellingtonbridge/Ballymitty/ Bannow areas and environs, doing this challenge too. Ballymitty GAA club is kindly supporting this event, by allowing the use of their walking track.

Mary is hoping these 30 days may turn into the start of a walking/running group for all age groups from the area, and will encourage those of us who would like company walking, to get out there in the fresh air often, in the safe, secure, traffic-free environment of the GAA club, to join with others for fun chats, and sociable walks and runs.

Even if you’d prefer not to do the IHF challenge, but would still enjoy company walking, or running, please come along and join in. All are most welcome from 10am-11am each day.

CAMROSS

Camross Drama Group

The group are busy rehearsing three One Act plays for the coming season. Our Festival play, ‘Jack Fury’ will compete in five festivals, namely Goresbridge, Ballyduff, Co Waterford, CAT Club, Cork, Gorey and finish in Doonbeg, Co. Clare.

All three plays will perform locally, 17th and 18th October in Camross Hall, Sunday 8th November in Carrig on Bannow and Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November in Wexford Arts Centre. Rehearsals are in full swing with a lot of lines to be learned.

ICA Mummers

Camross ICA Mummers are back rehearsing after the summer break. They will perform at the Hands and Heritage Festival at Sigginstown Castle, Tacumshane, on Saturday 19th September at 8pm. They will be accompanied, as usual, by Joan, Peter and Phil and coached by Sean Sinnott.

Thursday – Active Retirement meeting (first Thursday of every month).

Friday – Yoga: 10am-11am. Chiropodist: First Friday every month, 9.30am-12.30pm

We will be having extra classes returning soon, including Line Dancing and Chair yoga classes.
