Heavy rain and strong winds are expected in the coming days as the current spell of unsettled weather is set to continue, Met Éireann has said.
Meteorologist Mark Bowe said the weather is going to be a bit more unsettled over the next couple of days.
“We’re going to see spells of rain and showers at times,” he told the natoinal forecaster’s daily weather podcast.
“We’re going to have some strong winds in there as well, but our temperatures should hover around average.
“Now, we are kind of stuck in this regime at the moment, where we’ve got high pressure to our south and kind of low pressures to our north.”
“So that basically just funnels a lot of weather systems our way over the coming few days, which is why our weather has been or will be rather so unsettled,” he added.
Sunday starts off cloudy and damp, with plenty of cloud and rain pushing in from the west, especially across Connacht and Munster.
The rain will gradually spread east through the day, becoming patchier as it does so with clear spells developing later on this evening, with highs of 17 to 21C.
Monday is going to be even more unsettled, with heavy rain over western counties in the morning, which will spread eastwards later.
It will be a bit cooler too, with highest temperatures ranging between 14 and 18C.
Tuesday will see a mix of sunshine and showers, and there will be a dry and pleasant start on Wednesday before the rain returns in the evening.
