Alex Scott pushed his claims for a first senior England appearance in Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw at Newcastle.
The Guernsey-born midfielder has been called up by Thomas Tuchel in previous squads without being selected and he was drafted into England’s camp to prepare for this summer’s World Cup.
With the international break looming this month, Scott dazzled at St James’ Park, having a crucial hand in both of Bournemouth’s goals and his passing helped his side overrun Newcastle in the first half.
While the Magpies fought back to claim a hard-earned point, Scott was the talk of the Toon and Cherries head coach Marco Rose is delighted the club managed to keep hold of the 23-year-old, who was linked with a summer switch to Chelsea.
“I love him and I’m really proud and happy that Bournemouth is able to play a season with this kind of player – he is so talented and really clear in his mindset,” Rose said.
“There were many rumours about him (over the summer) but he was always professional in the pre-season and now he gives everything for the club and for him. We try to support him to achieve his goals to play for England and his next steps.”
