The construction of a new residential care home in County Leitrim is nearing completion.
Works on the new facility in Fenagh are almost complete with hopes that the facility will open in early 2027.
Following a procurement process, a provider has now been identified to operate the service on behalf of the HSE.
The service is planned to operate under a nurse led model of care, with staffing expected to include a full-time person in charge/manager, 4.5 whole time equivalent staff nurses and eight whole time equivalent care assistants.
The positive update has been welcomed by local Councillor Gary Prior.
“Following a motion I brought before the July meeting of Leitrim County Council, I’m pleased to share a positive update on the new residential care home at Mahana, Abbeylodge, Ballinamore.
“Construction works are now nearing completion, with the current indicative timeframe for the service to open being quarter one, 2027.
“It is very welcome to receive such a positive update on this much-needed service, and I will continue to follow its progress as it moves closer to opening,” said Cllr Prior.
