Ryan Tubridy, Siobhán McSweeney, Seán Fitzgerald and Lola Deal will also feature in the show
Newstalk presenter Claire Byrne is set to make an appearance on the upcoming return of Celebrity Gogglebox Ireland.
The 12th season of Gogglebox Ireland is kicking off with a celebrity special. Byrne will be joined on the couch by her fellow Newstalk presenter Ciara Doherty.
Speaking to Anton Savage on Newstalk Breakfast on Wednesday morning, Byrne said: “I do not know what to expect.”
“We’re together, sitting on the sofa,” she said. “Well, we will be. I don’t know how it all works.”
Savage asked: “Surely this is all in the can? Is this not one of those things where they make it months in advance?”
Byrne then confirmed that filming for the episode has yet to take place.
“I don’t know yet where it’s going to be. It’s not going to be in my house, but I don’t know where it’s going to be yet.”
She said she felt the aim of the Gogglebox producers was to make participants “forget there are cameras there”.
“It goes on for quite a long time, and I’m just worried that I won’t be able to stay awake because normally I go to bed so early, so that’s my one fear.
“The other thing is, will they have good snacks? Because you can’t watch telly without good snacks.”
Celebrity Gogglebox will also feature a number of well-known faces in Irish entertainment, culture and sport, including former Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy, who will be on the couch with TV personality Mark Wogan, the son of the late Terry Wogan.
Actor and presenter Siobhán McSweeney will appear with her best friend Jess, Galway footballer Seán Fitzgerald will be joined by his Love Island co-star Lola Deal, and Derry Girls star Jamie-Lee O’Donnell will be alongside fellow actor Ian O’Reilly, known for his role in Moone Boy.
All-Ireland winning former Dublin footballer Michael Darragh Macauley is set to be joined by Olympian and European gold medallist Ciara Mageean, with Today FM presenter Ian Dempsey appearing with comedian Mario Rosenstock.
With Lottie Ryan gearing up to take on her new role on The Six O’Clock Show, she will be on Celebrity Gogglebox with her new co-host, Brian Dowling Gourounlian.
Celebrity Gogglebox airs on Wednesday, September 9 at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Play.
