Faith at Home Notice Board: The ‘Faith at Home’ notice board is now displayed on the right hand side of the church beside the side entrance and is designed to support and encourage families in growing their faith at home. Each week, you’ll find a few simple family activities based on the gospel, psalms or readings from that Sunday, to help you live out your faith at home. Be sure to stop by, take a look, and feel free to take a photo or jot down ideas to use during the week at home. Supplies for activities may also be included. Times of Masses and Blessed Sacrament Adoration: Weekday Masses are celebrated at 10am from Tuesday to Friday, and at 5pm (Vigil) on Saturday. There is no celebration of 10am morning Mass on Mondays and Saturdays. On Mondays Evening Mass is celebrated at 7pm with Adoration of Blessed Sacrament from 6pm to 7pm. Sunday Masses are celebrated at 10am, 12pm, and 6pm. Irish Mass: A Mass in Irish is celebrated at 9am on Sunday mornings in St. Peter’s Church, Little, Bray.

St. Joseph Men’s Camino: Every Camino changes us in ways we don’t expect, every man needs one. Join men from across Ireland on Saturday September 12th for a 25km pilgrimage through the Boyne Valley, beginning in Drogheda. Dr. Jessie Rogers: The Parish of Ballybrack Killiney is hosting Dr. Jessie Rogers, Lecturer in Sacred Scripture, St. Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth, to support faith development. Dr. Rogers will speak about the great poetry of the Psalms in the Church of the Apostles, Ballybrack, at 7.30pm tomorrow (Thursday), Thursday November 5th, and on a further date in January 2027 which has yet to be confirmed.

Bethany Bereavement Support Group – Shankill: The Bethany Bereavement Support Group is running a free five-week bereavement support programme from 8pm to 9.30pm in St. Anne’s Resource Centre beginning Tuesday September 22nd with sessions continuing on Tuesday September 29th, Tuesday October 6th, Tuesday 13th and Tuesday October 20th. If you are experiencing the pain of any kind of loss, the Bethany Bereavement Team offers free support and consolation in a safe and confidential environment where healing can begin. Bethany is a free listening service provided by trained volunteers in the community, offering a space to listen, share and connect with others who understand. Grief can follow many different kinds of loss, including the loss of a loved one, loss of health, miscarriage, loss of safety following trauma, divorce or relationship breakdown, loss of a job or financial stability, retirement, or a loved one’s serious illness. Youth Activities Coordinator: Are you passionate about supporting young people on their faith journey? We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and proactive Youth Activities Coordinator to help inspire, engage, and nurture young people within our Catholic parish community. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young people, excellent communication and relationship building skills, and a genuine commitment to Catholic faith. Ideally the candidate should be confident using social media, coordinating events and activities, supporting volunteers, and working collaboratively with parish clergy, families, and the wider community. We are looking for someone who is warm, approachable, creative, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities while upholding the values, teachings, and safeguarding standards of the Catholic Church. St. Brigid’s Parish, Cabinteely: Weekday Masses are celebrated in St. Brigid’s Church, Cabinteely on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 10am, and no Mass on Wednesday. On Bank Holidays Mass is celebrated at 11am. At weekends the Vigil Mass is celebrated at 5.30pm (Saturday). Sunday Mass times are 10am and 12.30pm.

St. Michael’s Church, Dun Laoghaire: Mass Times: Monday to Friday: 10am; Saturday: 10am and 6pm Vigil Mass; Sunday: 9.15am, 11.30am, and 12pm. The celebration of the 10.30am Mass in Irish resumes this Sunday.

Shankill Library

To facilitate essential conservation and improvement works, Shankill Library formerly on Library Road remains in its temporary facility located in Stonebridge Community Centre, 7 Stonebridge, Grove, Shankill, until this work is completed, and is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm.

Rathmichael Historical Society

The autumn programme of Rathmichael Historical Society lectures will commence on Wednesday October 7th at 8pm when Brian Lacey will present ‘Origin of the O’Neill and the O’Donnell dynasties’ in Rathmichael National School. All are welcome – admission is €5 for non-members.

First Saturday Book Sale

This Saturday the September First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Seniors Day Centre, takes place from 10am to 1pm in the Shankill Seniors Day Centre, Lower Road, Shankill. Donations of books, which must be in a clean and good condition, are restricted to one small bag per donor due to storage issues, and can be only handed into the Book Sale this Saturday morning.

Shankill Seniors Thursday Group

Last Thursday morning James Scannell from the Old Dublin Society gave the first part in a two part talk dealing with the December 1917 Halifax, Nova Scotia, Explosion in which the SS Imo and SS Mont Blanc collided with each other in which SS Mont-Blanc’s cargo of high explosives exploded devastating an area of 400 and causing hundred of casualties.

James will return on Thursday September 10th to present part two of this talk which will look at the aftermath of the explosion, the great heroism of a railway dispatcher who was killed in the explosion, and the massive operation mounted to treat the hundreds of those injured by the blast wave from the explosion.
