75th anniversary

A joint 75th Anniversary celebration of Wexford Festival Opera and the Birthplace of Guinness World Records will be held in Castlebridge Community Hall on Friday, September 11th at 1.30p.m. Featuring opera singing, the Birthplace “Last Visitor” play, and Colm Tóibín’s special 75th Anniversary Anthem performed by Castlebridge N.S and Ballymurn N.S. Entry is free and all are most welcome.

Development Lotto

Results of the Curracloe United Lotto draw for Sunday, August 30th. The numbers drawn were 3, 15, 17 & 25. There was no Jackpot winner and 2 match 3 winners, who each received €150, James Kelly, Curracloe and J.P. Hanrahan, c/o Curracloe Tavern. Next week’s Jackpot stands at €7250 and the draw takes place on Sunday night in the Curracloe Tavern at 8pm.

Church news

Farewell and thank you – After just two short, quick years, Fr. Gahan departs from us this weekend to take us his new appointment in Carnew/Tomacork/Shillelagh/Coolfancy.

We thank him for his dedication, devotion, administration of the sacraments and for being a source of strength to this community. He was very accommodating and always made himself available to anyone in need. His deep commitment to the parish will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Fr. Gahan, thank you for walking beside us in faith and helping us grow closer to God. In appreciation for all you have done in our Parishes, may God continue to bless you.

Flower Rota for Church – Oylegate: If you would like to join the rota for the preparation of flowers for the altar during the year, please contact the parish office.

Parish Payments via Bank – A word of thanks to all who have recently set up their envelope payments to the Parish through the Bank. Going forward for anybody setting up payments directly to the Parish via the Bank, could you please ensure that when instructing the Bank to set up the Direct Debit/Standing Order, that a reference of your name will show on the statements. Please also contact the parish office when you have set up such a payment to the Parish account so that same can be noted and recorded. Mass Bookings – Please book anniversary Masses through the Parish Office during office hours. Fr. Gahan is the priest dealing with Oylegate/Glenbrien and Crossabeg. Father Gahan can be contacted on 087-2681010 in case of an emergency in these areas.

Piercestown/Murrintown ARA Club

Notice re upcoming Day Trips after Summer break. 22nd September – meet at John Barry on the Quay for a walking tour with WexTrails starting 2pm.

3rd November – coach trip to Japanese Gardens and Stuff in Kildare – pick up times will be notified later. Cost pp €45 to include entry ticket for guided tour and garden visit. Note change of date due to circumstances beyond our control.

24th November – Christmas Shopping trip to Kilkenny – a tour of castle can be booked for anyone who may wish to do that. Price €30 pp.

Mass Times

Saturday: Cleariestown 6pm, Caroreigh 8pm. Sunday: Trinity 9am, Taghmon 10.15am, Rathangan 11.30am. This ensures there is a vigil mass and Sunday morning mass in both parishes. No special masses on Sundays for funerals. Christmas, Easter, Holyday and holiday schedules will be worked out in due course. The 11.30am mass in Rathangan can also be viewed on the webcam.
