DUNLAVIN

Death

The death has occurred of Comdt. Denis Kevin Croke (retired), Inchanisky, Mountrath, Co. Laois and formerly of Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow , Casement Aerodrome Baldonnel, and 82 Main Street, Portlaoise, on 28 August 2026, age 76. Peacefully at home, after a long illness bravely borne, with his family by his side.

Pre-deceased by his parents Kevin and Bessie Croke, and his young daughter Colette. Beloved husband of 50 years of Colette and much loved father of Yvonne, Elaine and Kevin. Proud grandfather of Ben, Juliette and Bradley.

Kevin will be deeply missed by his loving sisters Joan, Clodagh, Kyra, Louise and brother John, his treasured daughter-in-law Addie, Dylan, André, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. Kevin’s funeral took place in Portlaoise.

Join our free computer classes, delivered by a highly qualified and experienced tutor. Courses available: QQI Level 4 Computer Course Non-certified computer classes.

Voluntary Position

A Voluntary Position has been requested for a Parish Health and Safety Contact Person for St. Nicholas of Myra Church. This person will act as the local point of contact for H&S matters.

The role involves assisting the Parish Team in maintaining H&S documentation, carrying out basic safety checks, reporting hazards or concerns, coordinating with contractors, and promoting a safe environment for parishioners, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

The Contact Person will support the implementation of H&S arrangements but does not assume overall responsibility. If you are interested in position please contact Fr. Douglas or drop in/contact the Parish office.

Death

The death took place of Rose Kennedy (née Faherty), Hollywood, who passed away peacefully on August 20th, surrounded by her loving family in the exceptional and devoted care of the team at Baltinglass Hospital, Primrose Ward.

Very sadly missed by her loving husband James, her devoted sister Ann, her children Siobhán, Deirdre, Catherine, Patrick, Martin, Mairéad, Annie, Brigid, Róisín, Sorcha and Niamh. Her sons-in-law, Adrian, Ritam, Ian, John, Sean and Niall. Her daughters-in-law, Pilar and Zelda. Her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Predeceased by her sisters, Rita, Helen, Kathleen, her brothers Joseph, Bartley, and brothers-in-law, Bernard and Tony. Rose’s funeral took place in Hollywood. May she rest in peace.

Sympathy

Sympathy to John Fitzgerald and family, Grangebeg on the death of John’s brother Des who died following a long illness. Des’s funeral took place in Tinahely. May Des rest in peace.

Golf Society Outing

The winners of the outing to Blessington Lakes were 1st Jason Kett, 2nd Billy Walsh, 3rd Mark Wrigley. Thanks to all who played and to Blessington Lakes for hosing a most enjoyable day.

Sympathy

Sympathy to Niamh Murphy and family on the death of Niamh’s mother Nora. Nora passed away in the care of the staff of Silverstream Nursing Home, Dunlavin. Nora’s funeral took place in Newbridge. May she rest in peace.

Strength & Mobility Class

Beginner Pilates Classes

Music Generation

Music Generation Wicklow and Music Under The Mountains are coming together to offer lessons on guitar, tin whistle, traditional flute, fiddle, accordion and concertina.

Lessons take place in the Hollywood centre on Saturday mornings 10am-1pm beginners and advanced levels welcome. age 8-17. Cost is €8 for 40-minute Lesson in small group for 25. total cost per year is €200 payable in two online instalments. Any queries contact [email protected]

Hollywood Bingo

Bingo takes place in the Hollywood Centre every Thursday night at 8pm with two jackpots to be won with one jackpot of €6,000 and second €3,750.

GAA Club Lotto

Hollywood GAA Club Lotto draw results for 19th August. The numbers drawn were 4, 5, 16 & 20. There was no winner of the jackpot. The €20 seller’s prizes went to Inver Shop 423, The €50 winners were Frances Kavanagh online 160, Ciara Nugent online Claire Nugent 126, Padraic & Catherine Daynes 543.
