Blackwater Tidy Towns

Blackwater Tidy Towns are looking for help. Please if you are out walking around the villlage, surrounding roads and the beach areas please bring a small bag and do litter picks. Your assistance would be much appreciated. Please keep Blackwater clean and litter free for everybody’s enjoyment.

Irish Dahlia Society National Show

The national show will take place on Tuesday 8th September at Ballyknockan Farm Y21 A526. Show opens to the public from 2pm to 4pm. Sale of blooms strictly at 4pm. Easily accessible from the R741 and found on Google Maps. Follow signage when reaching the site.

Split the pot

The winner on 29th August was Gerry Caffrey with a pot of €152. Congratulations Gerry. Envelopes for these draws are in local businesses. Thank you to everyone who takes part your support is much appreciated.

Bingo

Fun evenings out for all the family in Blackwater Parish Hall at 8pm every Friday for July and August and this Friday 4th September. Shop with refreshments available. Please come and have lots of fun.

Coffee morning

A community coffee morning takes place every Tuesday morning at 10am in the Parish Hall. All are welcome.

BREE-GALBALLY

Barn Dance

Bree Vintage Club Run

Bree Vintage Club annual road run will take place on Sunday 20th September. Registration from 11.30am, leaving Byrne’s Grain Yard at 1pm. Proceeds in aid of Parkinson Wexford Branch.

Bree Baby & Toddler Group

Bree Baby and Toddler group has resumed on Thursdays at 10.30am in Bree Hall. Admission is €2 per family. Look forward to seeing some old and new faces.

Bree Macra

Congratulations to the Bree Macra Know Your Ag Quiz team of Barry Murphy, Kieran Banville, Gary Murphy and David Finn, who won the county final of the Ag Quiz recently. The team will represent Wexford at the All-Ireland Final at the Macra Rally in October.

Clothes recycling bins removed

All clothes recycling bins have been removed from Bree Community Centre. Clothes can be recycled at local charity shops or local Recycling Centres.

Tennis Coaching Courses

Children’s and Adult Tennis Coaching Courses begin from week beginning 14th September on a weekly basis for 6 weeks at Bree Community Centre Tennis Courts.

Total cost is €99 for school children and €110 for adults. Times are dependent on age groups. For further information, contact Jamie on 0872788985.

Bree Hall Library

All books have been replaced in the Community Centre Library. Hall is open on most days, except Sundays, from 9pm to 4.30pm. Donations of books can be left in at the library at any stage and are most welcome.

Caim Vintage Club are holding their Annual road run on 13th September.

Caim School reopened this week after the summer holidays. Welcome back to all students especially the new students.

Badminton is back in the Community Centre on Wednesdays at 7pm, all are welcome.

CLONEGAL-KILDAVIN

Farewell – Fr. Pat Hugues

Fr. Pat Hughes who has been with us in Clonegal Kildavin for what seems like a very brief six years is leaving us for Portarlington on September 18.

We wish him all the best. An event to mark his departure is being organised. Details will be distributed at weekend masses. If you wish to be associated with the event and won’t be at mass in the Parish, please contact 087 8380018 or email [email protected].

Cleaner needed – Clonegal N.S.

Cleaner needed to clean Clonegal N.S. twice a week, ten hours in total, the school consists of eight large classrooms, 14.15 an hour, please apply on or before 6/9/26 by 3pm to Chairperson BOM by email only. The dedicated email address for applications is [email protected].

250th Church of Holy Cross Commemorations

Plans are progressing for the celebration of 250 years of the Church of the Holy Cross Myshall which will take place from Friday to Sunday September 11-13.

This will be a once in a lifetime celebration which will adopt the theme of ‘250 years of Community’. Activities will include Inspirational talks on the Friday night, a reflectional walk on the Saturday morning followed by the celebration of Mass and the usual Quarant Ore Procession on the Sunday morning with Mass celebrated by Bishop Nulty who will also unveil a commemorative plaque. Clubs and organisations are asked to become involved and display their banners while processing after Mass through the street.

The following Friday night 18th September is Culture Night, and celebrations will continue with an exhibition of photographs, video footage and other memorabilia in Myshall Community Centre.

A book on the Church is also being published and any information or photos to help with this would be gratefully appreciated as this is not a history book but a celebration of the Myshall community over 250 years – email [email protected] The researcher would love to get photos of Communion or Confirmation classes prior to the 1980s or indeed any photo or information relating to the Church e.g. altar server’s outings, John Paul 11 medal recipients to name but some. The next organisational meeting will take place on August 26 at 8pm in Myshall Community Centre and all are welcome.

Weavers’ Cottages Museum

Come and visit the Weavers’ Cottages Museum which were once the home of local weavers dating back to the 17th century and now houses many artefacts of the cottage weaving industry. Opening Times: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9am–4pm. Tuesday 9am–2pm. Friday: 9am–1pm. Saturday and Sunday, please phone 053 9376749.

Students returning to secondary schools

Best wishes to all the young people from Davidstown Courtnacuddy who are returning to secondary school over the coming week. Best wishes to all heading into exam years and a special mention to all who are starting their journey in secondary school commencing in 1st year. Best wishes also to all heading off to third level, into apprenticeships, PLC courses and into the workforce. We wish you all the very best of luck.

Split the Pot

Congratulations to Martin Scallan who was the recent winner of €84. “Split the Pot” Envelopes are available in local shops and from committee members. Handball Club looking for adult players

Want to try something new? Davidstown Courtnacuddy Handball Club are looking for adult entries – male and female for the upcoming County Winter League. Whether you’re completely new to handball or you’re looking to get back playing, there’s a place for you!

Beginners and returning players will have a separate league group, making it a great opportunity to give handball a try in a friendly and welcoming environment. Contact Maureen O’Shea, Club Secretary, on 087 6185450 for full details. Why not give it a go? You might just discover your new favourite sport!

Courtnacuddy Youth Club

Courtnacuddy Youth Club are currently making plans to resume activities after the Summer break. The Club will hold their Registration Night this Friday 4th September from 7pm to 9pm in Courtnacuddy parish hall.

The club is open to 3rd to 6th Class students for the Junior Club and 1st to 6th year students for the Senior Club. Club Leaders will be present for registration and will be happy to provide further details and information about the club. The cost of registration is €5 each or €10 for a family. Nightly admission is €2 each.

The Club will welcome everyone back for the first Club Night, the following week on Friday 11th September for Juniors 3rd to 6th Class 7pm–8.30pm and Seniors Secondary school 1st year to 6th Year 8.30pm -10pm

Best wishes Damien – song launch

We would like to wish Damien Murphy the very best of luck with the launch of a song he has penned entitled “The Son of Ballindoney” which is about his Great Uncle Jim English who was a stalwart of Rathnure and Wexford GAA. The launch takes place in Conran’s, Rathnure on Saturday, September 12th at 7.30 p.m. All are invited to attend. Well done Damien.
