one minute agoEilis O’HanlonAnd The Loser Is…  Traitor Clara and musician Pauric O are the final two to arrive before we get to find out which of Laura or Donal (the fourth D of the day) has bitten the proverbial dust.  There’s a rat-a-tat at the door, and it opens to reveal… Donal.  “They killed Laura,” breathes Diego, like a man watching Twin Peaks for the first time.  2 minutes agoRegina LavelleBirthday girl Anna 4 minutes agoEilis O’HanlonAge Ain’t Nothing But A Number  It’s Anna’s birthday. The postal worker from Dublin is now 27. So was she captioned as 26 yesterday? I can’t be bothered going back to check, so let’s just say that she was. Everyone sings Happy Birthday as she steps through the door, because, well they were hardly going to sing We Wish You A Merry Christmas, were they?  I am not sure what that scarf is, but social media will no doubt provide an answer any… minute… now…  7 minutes agoEilis O’HanlonPower (Struggle) Breakfast  Dawn breaks in the Boyne Valley, and the pain au chocolat look delicious.   The three Ds are first to arrive.  That’s DJ, Diego and Denis. The latter two Ds revealed to viewers last night that they have been an item for 11 years, so pretending to be complete strangers should come easy. Sure, after 11 years most couples can barely stand the sight of each other anyway.  DJ made the mistake of telling his fellow players at last night’s round table that he’s actually a car salesman, despite going into the castle with the intention of not telling anyone. Quite why he changed his mind remains a mystery, but he’s bound to be on everyone’s radar today as a result. What was he thinking? Denis, a man of many hatsDiego, a great dancer DJ, in the firing line for being a car or a car parts salesman 9 minutes agoEilis O’Hanlon

Partition Is Such Sweet Sorrow

While we’re waiting, why are there no players from Northern Ireland?

Edelle is from Donegal, but she’s already gone, and that might be in Ulster but definitely isn’t Norn Iron anyway.

The Good Friday Agreement clearly needs renegotiation if you’re going to keep excluding us from the fun like this.       9 minutes agoRegina Lavelle

And we’re on!

Round and round 29 minutes agoEilis O’HanlonOnce More With Feeling  So, where are we after last night’s shenanigans?  We’re now one murder and one banishment down. Edelle the temporary Traitor fell foul of last night’s round table and was sent packing. The Faithfuls were jubilant, convinced that they have this sleuthing lark all sewn up.  Unfortunately, the Traitors are meeting again in the dungeon to plan their next murder… Here we go again! Edelle, the first Traitor sent packing 14 minutes agoEilis O’Hanlon

Now For The Good News

The best thing about The Traitors Ireland is that normally after the news at nine, you have to watch some depressing documentary about equally grim and depressing subjects, or sit through a lot of politicians arguing with each other on Prime Time.

Seeing something you actually want to watch, rather than just feeling you should watch out of civic duty, makes a pleasant change.

Come to think of it…

There are a few in Ireland that you’d be tempted to introduce to those dungeons. But let’s not name names.

We’re all probably thinking the same ones…

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me In There!

After the success of last year’s Celebrity Traitors on BBC One last autumn, brilliantly won by Alan Carr, you can’t help wondering if RTE will do their own celebrity edition.

There may not be 22 people enough to make the cut, but it could offer Ryan Tubridy the perfect route back to stardom at home.

Dustin the Turkey would make a fantastic Traitor.

Who’s Who?

Many viewers are surely still trying to get their heads around who all these people are.

I know I am.

It’s like the first few days at school or in a new job. You think you’ll never remember everyone’s name and face. Before you know it, they’re old friends.

I’m definitely warming to this year’s intake. Producers have chosen well. They’re funny, smart, no one’s ego seems to be out of control.

There’s no one yet to rival Paudie from last year.

Then again, who ever could?
