A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the rape of a woman in Covent Garden.
The incident took place in Macklin Street in the early hours of Saturday, 22 August when a woman in her 20s was attacked.
Christopher Rocha, 22, of Kilburn Lane, Westminster was arrested and charged with rape and intentional strangulation.
He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 12 September.
Police previously said the victim was approached by an unknown man as she walked through the crowded streets of Shaftesbury Avenue, Cambridge Circus and Drury Lane.
Police said at around 5.20am, the man dragged her into a doorway in Macklin Street before allegedly raping her.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley said previously: “Our thoughts are with the victim who continues to demonstrate tremendous courage.
“No woman or girl should feel unsafe on the streets of London, and we remain steadfast in our pursuit of those who commit these terrible offences.
Rocha was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, 9 October.
