Summer is officially over – the new football season is in full swing, children are going back to school, and there is plenty of rain in the forecast for London.
After a record-setting hot and dry summer, the capital is set to see more wet weather this weekend to continue September’s damp start.
According to the Met Office, Thursday will begin brightly with sunny spells through the morning, before showers sweep in later in the day.
More rain is predicted on Friday, with the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday should be drier and warmer, albeit with the odd shower still possible.
Looking further ahead, next week promises a mix of sunshine and cloud, with temperatures generally expected to remain mild.
And the Met Office’s long-range forecast offers hope for Londoners who are already missing the sizzling conditions of the past few months.
It predicts “warm spells” in the south in the second half of September, with “very warm” weather possible in the next couple of weeks.
The Met Office has previously said the UK is on course for its hottest summer on record after five heatwaves, with temperatures of up to 38.1C recorded in London.
