Toronto is heading into a calmer, brighter stretch of weather after Wednesday’s rain swept across the region.

With that system now out of the picture, forecasters say the city will enjoy plenty of sunshine, near‑seasonal temperatures and mostly dry conditions heading into the weekend.

680 NewsRadio weather specialist Denise Andreacchi says Toronto will see a full return to sunshine Thursday, with a guaranteed high of 23°C and winds from the WNW at 20–40 km/h. It’s a noticeably calmer setup compared to Wednesday’s stormy weather.

Tonight will be mainly clear and a little cool, with a low of 14°C.

What to expect this weekend

Weather conditions will be pleasant for Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) attendees, as Friday stays near seasonal with a mix of sun and cloud. Expect a high of 23°C and a low of 13°C, making for a stable end to the workweek.

Andreacchi says Saturday will be the driest and brightest day of the weekend. Forecasters call for sunny skies, above‑seasonal warmth and a high of 24°C, with an overnight low of 16°C.

Sunday brings a bit more variability, with sun and cloud and a slight chance of scattered showers. Temperatures remain comfortable, with a high of 23°C and a low of 14°C.

Late‑summer warning: Wasps more active and aggressive this time of year

As Toronto heads into a stretch of warm, dry weather, people may notice more wasps, hornets and yellow jackets around patios, parks and outdoor gatherings.

Entomologists say late summer and early fall mark the peak of wasp activity for several reasons:

  • Colonies are at their largest population size of the year.
  • Natural food sources begin to decline, making wasps more likely to seek out human food — especially sweets and proteins.
  • Worker wasps become more aggressive as colonies start to die off, increasing the likelihood of stings.

Experts recommend keeping food covered outdoors, avoiding bright floral patterns, and staying calm if a wasp approaches — sudden movements can trigger defensive behaviour.
