Complainant M returns for second day of evidence

Complainant M is back in the witness box and being taken over some evidence he gave yesterday.

Prosecution barrister Georgina Wright SC has asked Complainant M who he told about the alleged assaults.

The athlete said he told three people when he saw articles about Mr Jones in the Sydney Morning Herald in 2023, that a similar thing happened to him as was reported in the paper.

There have been some early objections from the defence about this line of questioning, and Complainant M has been sent out of the courtroom temporarily while there is legal argument.

Our reporters Isobel Roe and Ethan Rix are at the NSW Local Court in Sydney where evidence from Complainant M is being given in a closed session.

The prominent athlete is accusing Mr Jones of one count of indecent assault and one count of sexual touching.

Proceedings are now underway for the day.

Mr Jones has pleaded not guilty to a total of 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching in this trial.

On Monday, the court heard the complainant was left in “disbelief” after Mr Jones allegedly kissed him without consent at a public event in 2015 before sending him a text message saying: “I hope you can feel my kisses darling.”

The complainant has also alleged on another occasion, some time between December 2018 and October 2020, Mr Jones kissed him and pressed his genitalia against him while the pair were at Mr Jones’s Circular Quay apartment.
