FABRIZIO ROMANO has dropped another cryptic retirement hint.
The relentless transfer guru is one of the football world’s best-known sources of transfer information.
But in recent weeks he has hinted that his coverage will be changing as he embarks on a “new chapter.”
That was again the case as he posted a heartfelt update to his Instagram account after a packed summer window.
He wrote to his 50million followers: “It’s been a loooong, long summer…
“The World Cup, no stop on transfer news, two or three hours sleep, different time zones, big scoops, emotional moments. The amount of work behind the scenes has been insane, so can’t thank my friends enough for being part of this journey.

“The much needed change will happen soon. A different way, new vision to deliver the best football content possible. I’ll share more soon, but today it’s only time to say thanks.
“Thanks to all of you for following, thanks to all those close to this project for helping, thanks to the partners as we’re here generating mad numbers always for free. No paywall, not a pay-tv… and now preparing a new chapter of this journey.
“On June 5th, flying to Miami, I told my friends: imagine when September 2nd we’ll look back at this summer, the amount of work we’ve in front of us… it’s gonna be hard but let’s enjoy it.
“Today, I can say we climbed the mountain in a perfect way. I can’t be more proud. Looking forward to what’s next now. It’s been a beautiful three-months journey. Thank you!”

Fabrizio Romano’s cryptic post in full…
It’s been a loooong, long summer… 🪂
The World Cup, no stop on transfer news, two or three hours sleep, different time zones, big scoops, emotional moments.
The amount of work behind the scenes has been insane, so can’t thank my friends enough for being part of this journey.
The mission has always been the same: deliver daily content with best quality and accuracy on World Cup games as also transfer news, no stop, every day and night. Always a post… always a YouTube video, always go catch an exclusive story.
There will be time tomorrow to mention the numbers, as over 60 Billion views in three months only on Instagram feels like a miracle, something I can’t believe after mad amount of work.
But what makes me proud is to have my friends as a team, to feel the football fans’ passion every day, to know they can try to manipulate my work and my efforts… but facts will always, always be stronger than empty words. I’m so proud of that.
The much needed change will happen soon. A different way, new vision to deliver the best football content possible. I’ll share more soon, but today it’s only time to say thanks.

Talk of a “new chapter” and “much needed change” has fans desperate to know what Romano is planning.
But the tone of his comments has some fans convinced that he is stepping away from transfer exclusives entirely.
He gave an equally cryptic update earlier in the window, saying he “wont continue much longer” in his current capacity as a worldwide transfer expert.
He wrote on LinkedIn: “I’m probably not gonna continue into the transfer market industry as I’m doing right now for longer: it’s time to change the approach, the view… but this will be another topic soon, after the transfer window closes.”
With the window closed, fans can expect an update in the near future, but his absence will certainly be felt by fans if he chooses to step away.
Between Instagram and X, Romano boasts 80million followers, with fans flocking to his comments every transfer window.
