- There are still 38 Australians unaccounted for in Nepal and Tibet after flash flooding devastated the Nepal-China border last week. At least 1204 people have been confirmed dead and more than 4200 remain missing.
- The Australian economy grew by 0.4 per cent through the June quarter, according to data released by the ABS yesterday. The economy has grown 2.1 per cent in the past year.
- Treasurer Jim Chalmers continued to defend changes made to property taxes in his May budget as he fielded questions about falling house values over the past month, but conceded Labor’s changes have played a role in dragging down prices.
- Nationals leader Matt Canavan has been slammed for remarks he made during a breakfast television yesterday, in which he said boys were being driven to the manosphere because of the “feminisation” of the education system.
- US President Donald Trump has suggested renaming the Strait of Hormuz “Trump Strait” amid the biggest exchange of fire between US and Iran since July.
