Roman Reigns and Penta put on an instant classic in Mexico City and it was one of the best “Monday Night Raw” matches of the year.
Penta was challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship after winning a No. 1 contender tournament, defeating several Luchadores for a shot at Roman Reigns. The champion came into the bout successfully defending his title against any opponent from Jacob Fatu to Seth Rollins after winning it at WrestleMania 42 over CM Punk.

Penta had all of Mexico in his corner from the jump. He came out wearing a headdress to put an exclamation point on his already riveting entrance. He knew it would take everything he had to take the belt off Reigns and that the “Tribal Chief” wasn’t going to make it easy for him.
Reigns let Penta come to him for the most part. He tried to slow down the match as much as he could. The match changed in Penta’s favor after performing The Sacrifice on Reigns’ right arm. Reigns was obstructed from doing his usual moves without feeling any pain. He persevered through it and kicked out of a Penta Driver and a Mexican Destroyer in the process.
Penta’s lone mistake was going for a high-risk move toward the end of the match. He was met with a Superman punch. Reigns flopped into the corner and waited for the right moment to strike with a spear. He connected and pinned Penta for the win.
The crowd in Mexico City was absolutely heartbroken as Reigns crushed the dreams of their hero. Penta went up the ramp in disbelief as “Monday Night Raw” went off the air.
It didn’t take long for Reigns’ next opponent to make a statement.

WWE posted clips on social media showing LA Knight walking to the ring. Reigns grabbed the microphone and began to talk when Knight hit him with a BFT.
Knight will be facing Reigns next at Money in the Bank on Oct. 10. Raw general manager Adam Pearce made it official on Tuesday after Knight came to him and said he was next in line.
As Reigns walked to the back on Monday night, he sent a message to Knight.
“This is what I’m talking about. I’m sick and tired of it,” Reigns said. “All these beggars. You want it? If he wants it, he can get it. Money in the Bank. New Orleans. Down south I’m going to whoop his b—h a–.”
It’s taken a while for Knight to get back into a No. 1 contender slot. But he’s managed to do it and now gets a real opportunity to leave New Orleans with some gold in the fall.
