The play will be a part of the Dublin Theatre Festival in October

Paul Mescal will perform at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin in October 2027..

Mescal will be playing the role of Michael Carney in the play Whistle in the Dark by Tom Murphy, and directed by Caitríona McLaughlin.

The play is a co-production between The Abbey Theatre, the National Theatre of Ireland and the National Theatre of Great Britain.

It will run at the Abbey Theatre from October 13 to 30 as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival, following a run in London at the Lyttelton Theatre.

“I cannot wait to be in a room with this company of curious, intelligent, sensitive and playful actors. I cannot believe my luck,” said McLaughlin, who is the Abbey Theatre’s Artistic Director.

Mescal will be making his debut at the National Theatre of Great Britain in the production.

The actor will be joined by a cast including Peter Corboy, Eimhin Fitzgerald Doherty, Ryan Donaldson, Ciarán Hinds, Aisling Loftus and Julian Moore-Cook.

Tickets for the play’s Dublin shows will go on sale in 2027.
