A road in Cork City remains closed as gardaí attend the scene of a serious traffic collision.
The Irish Examiner understands that a man, believed to be in his 40s, has died following the incident.
The incident happened on Tuesday morning on the Lee Road.
A garda spokesperson said local diversions are in place.
Meanwhile, Gaol Walk remains closed with motorists being advised to take alternative routes.
On the N28, congestion remains on the N28 at Carr’s Hill. The N27 is also seeing traffic delays as well, while traffic is crawling at the Dunkettle Interchange.
Weather
A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers will dominate Tuesday, with highs of 14C to 17C.
Long dry spells will continue into Tuesday night, with temperatures reaching as low as 9C.
Wednesday will generally be a dry day with a mix of cloud and some sunny spells.
However, thickening cloud will bring patches of drizzle to Atlantic counties. Highs of 14C to 17C are set for the day.
It will be wet and rather breezy early on Wednesday night across Atlantic counties before clear spells and well-scattered showers follow for the rest of the night.
Thursday will see a fresh and breezy day with sunny spells and scattered showers.
They will be most frequent across the west and northwest, with parts of the southeast staying dry, with highs of 14C to 17C.
Friday then will be rather wet and breezy during the morning, with cloudy outbreaks of rain occurring widely.
It will then ease in the afternoon, but it will stay fairly cloudy with rain or drizzle for the rest of the day. Highest temperatures will be between 15C to 19C.
Current indications show that the weekend will then be breezy on Saturday with sunny spells and passing showers, with drier weather on Sunday.
