When was the last time someone was attacked and left for dead on Coronation Street?
The murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) perhaps? When Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) was crushed by a car in the garage maybe? Or how about when stalker Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) was mysteriously attacked. All of which happened this year, by the way.
So clearly we’re due another!
This time the victim is the princess of T’Rovers’ herself, Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley)
It’s hard to imagine anyone having reason to push the Bombshell Barmaid to her death, aside from her murderous mother-in-law and co-landlady Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), plus maybe anyone who attended her unsuccessful cocktail night. Since Eva coupled up with Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), Maggie’s made it quite clear that our Eva’s not good enough forher boy.
To be fair, Maggie’s got a killer temper – literally. Indeed, Eva’s certainly been a bit more cordial to her monster-in-law since finding out that she pushed Ben’s stepdad down the stairs to conceal the fact her boy was the lovechild of Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson).
Maggie’s not the only one who might wish harm against Eva.
The entire Driscoll family was rocked to its core when Megan’s abuse of youngest son Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) was exposed earlier this year. With the help of Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), Eva indulged in a little bit of vigilante justice by try to intimidate a confession out of Megan.
While Eva’s plan was not successful, Megan was ultimately brought to justice. But Megan’s mum is still out there. There’s a possibility that the scheming predator could get revenge against Will’s family from behind bars… starting with Eva.
Or, there’s the possibility that Eva’s attack could be an accident, as a result of being caught up in some other drama occurring on the street.
What we do know is that the assault all starts when Susie Price (Aurora Bradshaw), Eva’s daughter. Weatherfield’s littlest diva finds herself thrust int the spotlight when Maggie posts a video of Eva singing and dancing on the Rovers’ website – much to Ben’s chagrin.
His anger is compounded when Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) suggests Susie should up for the Little Big Shotz talent competition.
But the old theatrical phrase “break a leg” might be taken too literally in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, when Eva bears the brunt of an attack…
Full of a cold, Eva sees Susie and Ben off for the audition in London.
Later, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan),call in to retrieve Sam’s phone but no one can remember where they put it. As Eva milks her cold, Glenda’s had enough and walks out.
Feeling dreadful, Eva closes the pub. Suddenly, she hears a noise downstairs. Someone is in the flat.
Eva’s in danger… but who’s out to get her?
