Former pop star Gary Glitter has pleaded not guilty to eight charges relating to alleged sexual offences against a girl when she was aged between eight and 11.
Glitter, 82, whose real name is Paul Gadd, is accused of offences dating from between 1978 and 1981.
Appearing by videolink from HMP Channing Wood at Southwark Crown Court in the UK on Wednesday, he denied four charges of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child and two charges of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.
He replied “absolutely not guilty” to two of the charges and “not guilty” to the remaining six.
The charges relate to allegations of repeated sexual abuse, including claims that Glitter caused the girl to touch his genitals and engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
Judge Tony Baumgartner, the Recorder of Westminster, adjourned the case for a three-week trial beginning on 22 November 2027.
The Metropolitan Police previously said the allegations were first reported to the force in January 2025 and Glitter was interviewed in July 2025 as part of the investigation.
Glitter was one of the biggest pop stars of the early 1970s, with hits including Rock And Roll (Parts One And Two) and I’m The Leader Of The Gang (I Am).
He was remanded in custody until his trial.
