IF your bedtime routine involves tossing and turning, kicking off the duvet and sticking one leg out… we need to talk about mattresses.
This news is going to be music to your ears: Simba has just unveiled its latest innovation, HeatRelease, a game-changing temperature-regulating system launched across its high-end Hybrid mattress line.

And this isn’t just another fancy-sounding mattress gimmick – Simba says its new tech can help you kip at up to 4.4°C cooler, with the cooling effect kicking in within 20 minutes and helping sleepers maintain a more comfortable temperature for up to eight hours.
If (like me), you’re wondering how on earth a mattress can actually make you cooler, the secret is graphite strips designed to absorb excess body heat rather than letting it build up around you.
It works alongside Simba’s graphite-infused Simbatex foam to help pull heat away from the body, while the brand’s breathable spring design allows air to move through the mattress.
That’s particularly interesting if, like me, you spend half the night flipping the pillow over to find the cool side because the idea is to tackle the heat where it starts, rather than relying on a fan pointed directly at your face.
HeatRelease is available as an upgrade to several existing Simba mattresses, which we have previously tested at The Sun and are now testing a mattress with the new feature.
The flagship Hybrid Ultra gets the technology as standard, while shoppers can add HeatRelease to the Hybrid Luxe or Hybrid Pro for an additional cost.
The Ultra is one of Simba’s most advanced mattresses, packed with clever cooling tech, breathable foam, tiny springs and a cooling cover to help keep you comfortable through the night — basically, the Formula One car of mattresses.
Prices start at £1,749 for a single Hybrid Ultra, rising to £2,999 for a super king, while HeatRelease upgrades for the Hybrid Pro start from £1,498 for a double and the Luxe from £1,998.
And, because spending thousands on a mattress is a fairly big commitment, all three come with Simba’s 200-night trial, giving you plenty of time to work out whether your new bed really is the stuff of cool, uninterrupted dreams.
We’ve also tested the more wallet-friendly Hybrid Essential, which scored 8/10 for cooling technology, with its graphite-infused Simbatex foam and Aerocoil springs helping it feel noticeably breathable on warmer nights, but unfortunately, as it stands, HeatRelease is not yet available on the entry-level model.
Now, with Britain seemingly determined to turn the bedroom into a sauna with every heatwave, Simba is betting that staying cool could be the next big thing in getting a good night’s sleep.
