Double killer Simon Levy will stand trial next year over allegations he stabbed a prison guard in the neck with a pen and tried to strangle him.
The 41-year-old, who is serving a whole life sentence for murdering two women in Tottenham, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation in an incident at HMP Belmarsh in February.
At a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court, sitting in the Royal Courts of Justice, on Monday, Levy appeared over a videolink from HMP Belmarsh.
The convicted killer, wearing grey prison issue clothes and sunglasses over his eyes, entered not guilty pleas to both charges.

Judge Charlotte Welsh ordered Levy to stand trial on February 15 next year, in a case which is due to last up to four days.
At the first hearing of the case last month, prosecutor David Burns told the court Levy was finishing a meeting with Belmarsh guard Paul Dunne when it is said he “attacked him with a pen, stabbing him multiple times to the arm and neck”.
It is said Mr Dunne fell to the floor and Levy then “grabbed the officer around the throat” before allegedly tightening his grip.
The incident happened on February 18, when Levy was being held on remand at the maximum security prison.
He indicated during his first appearance in the magistrates’ court that he intends to fight the allegations of attacking Mr Dunne.
Levy, formerly of Tottenham, north London, was handed a whole life prison term in August for murdering grandmother Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, and mother-of-four Sheryl Wilkins, 39, last year.
The killings happened after he had also carried out a string of sexual assaults on the Tube and raped a woman in a car park.
Judge Welsh adjourned the case for a further hearing on November 13, and set a pre-trial review hearing for January 19 next year.
