Horseshoe tournament
The annual Ally Howlin Horseshoe Tournament takes place on Sunday, September 20th at 2.30pm in Sim Donohoe’s field, Curracloe Village. Proceeds this year will be split between Curracloe Tidy Village and Curracloe National School. Raffle tickets will be sold on the day and the draw will take that evening in Furlong’s Bar & Lounge where light refreshments will also be served after the tournament.
Development Lotto
Results of the Curracloe United Development Lotto draw for Sunday, September 13th. The numbers drawn were 4, 9, 15, 25. There was no Jackpot winner. Four match 3 winners who received €40 each were Nuala Hearne, Ballina, Chrissie Keane, Ballyvaloo, Annie Howlin, Screen and Elaine Hearne, Ballina. The next draw takes place on Sunday, September 20th and the Jackpot stands at €7750.
Clothes collection
Curracloe National School are holding their next clothes collection on Tuesday, October 13th. All clothing, footwear, accessories and soft toys accepted in black bags. No underwear, duvets or pillows please. Bags to the left of the school gates before 9.30 a.m. Your support is much appreciated.
Date for the diaries
A 6K Fun Run/Walk, in memory of Club member Grace Mahon, is being organised by St. Ibars Camogie Club and will take place from the Shelmalier GAA grounds on Sunday, October 18th at 10am. Hospice Coffee Morning
This year’s Hospice Coffee Morning will take place on Thursday 24th September. Please join us in The Forge, Crossabeg, between 10am and 1pm, for coffee, chat and to raise money for the Hospice Foundation.
All funds raised go to the South East Palliative Care Centre in Waterford, which provides services to Wexford. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Walking group
The social walking group continues to meet every Monday at the GAA Club grounds 10.30am to 11.30am. All are welcome male, female, all ages and ability. Walk at your own pace and enjoy a chat and a cuppa afterwards, so come along any Monday that suits.

Parish Payments via Bank – A word of thanks to all who have recently set up their envelope payments to the Parish through the Bank. Going forward for anybody setting up payments directly to the Parish via the Bank, could you please ensure that when instructing the Bank to set up the Direct Debit/Standing Order, that a reference of your name will show on the statements. Please also contact the parish office when you have set up such a payment to the Parish account so that same can be noted and recorded. hurch works – information meeting
Piercestown Parish Council will be holding an information meeting on Thursday 17th September in St Martin’s Church, regarding our fundraising campaign for the repair and essential work that needs to be carried out on our local parish church.
The St Martin’s Church Piercestown Essential Repair Works project will be explained on the night and some future fundraising ideas. It is important that the local community come together and support this campaign.
Unfortunately, like many historic buildings, time has taken its toll on our 200 year old church, which has been and will continue to be a place of worship, reflection and community gathering for many.
The event will be quite informal though informative and take less than an hour. We encourage all our parishioners to attend.

See what we do in providing the first step in pre-hospital emergency care in our community.

Notice re upcoming Day Trips. Please note we have had to change dates due to circumstances beyond our control. 22nd September – meet at John Barry on the Quay for a walking tour with WexTrails starting 3pm followed by tea at 4.30pm. Cost of tour payable on the day directly.
13th October – Coach trip to Japanese Gardens and Stud in Kildare. Pick up in Trinity Street 8.45am Piercestown 9am, Maldron 9.15, travelling directly to Kildare Stud. Cost pp €45, to include entry ticket for guided tour and garden visit.
24th November – Christmas Shopping trip to Kilkenny – a tour of castle can be booked for anyone who may wish to do that. Price €30 pp.

Edward Hayden Live Cookery Demonstration

Mass Times
Saturday: Cleariestown 6pm, Caroreigh 8pm. Sunday: Trinity 9am, Taghmon 10.15am, Rathangan 11.30am. This ensures there is a vigil mass and Sunday morning mass in both parishes. No special masses on Sundays for funerals. Christmas, Easter, Holyday and holiday schedules will be worked out in due course. The 11.30am mass in Rathangan can also be viewed on the webcam.
