SOAP fans are facing another schedule shuffle this week as live cup football moves into ITV’s broadcast slot.

If you’re tuning in for the latest drama on the Weatherfield cobbles or over in the Dales, you’ll need to adjust your evening viewing plans.

Live television coverage of midweek Carabao Cup action across Tuesday and Wednesday is set to disrupt the usual lineup on ITV1.

Fortunately for soap lovers, Tuesday night (September 15) escapes the chaos.

Though ITV is broadcasting the cup fixture between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur that evening, the game has been allocated to ITV4.

That means ITV1 will carry its standard lineup, with Coronation Street running in its usual 8.30pm slot without interruption.

When Emmerdale is on this week: ITV schedule and football disruption

But Wednesday night (September 16) brings a different story.

ITV1 has selected the third-round clash between Manchester United and Brighton for its main channel coverage.

With live match build-up, commentary, and post-match analysis dominating, both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been pulled from the night’s schedule entirely.

When live sport displaces the soaps during the week, ITV often reshuffles its weekend schedule by adding a Sunday night episode.

But as it stands, the schedules don’t list any soap episodes for Sunday night, September 20.

ITV appears to be keeping its weekend slots reserved for standard Sunday night programming.

We’ll keep a close eye on the soaps’ official social media channels, and update this article with any fresh details.

How to watch new episodes early on ITVX and YouTube

If you can’t wait for the evening TV broadcast or simply want to get your soap fix early, ITV’s digital platforms offer a handy solution.

New episodes of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are uploaded to stream on ITVX and the soaps’ official YouTube channels from 7.00am every morning on their scheduled broadcast dates.

Note that because no episode is scheduled for TV on Wednesday, there will also be no early 7am release that morning.
