Temperatures are to hit 24C in some areas today, but conditions are forecast to turn cooler later this week, with a mix of rain and dry spells on the way over the coming week.
After a dry start this morning, rain will spread during the afternoon and evening, “turning heavy and persistent at times”.
Highest temperatures will be between 17 and 24C, warmest in the east of the country.
Rain will clear up tonight and will be followed by a mix of showers and clear spells. Temperatures will fall to lows of 11 to 14C overnight.
Tomorrow is expected to be a brighter day overall. There will be a mix of sun and showers, while it will also feel “fresher” than the recent humid spell, with highs of 14 to 18C.
Met Éireann’s outlook for the next few days shows things will continue to be “changeable”, with a mix of sunshine and rain.
Wednesday morning will start with a few showers in parts, though things will stay dry in many areas. Later on, clouds will build up to bring patches of drizzle. Highest temperatures will range from 15 to 17C.
Things will turn blustery at times on Thursday, when there will again be a mix of sun and showers. It will be cloudier with more persistent rain for some, particularly in the north of the country, with highs of 14 to 17C.
Friday morning will bring a dry start and the possibility of some sunshine, but rain will arrive during the day. Highs will be between 14 and 18C.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Met Éireann said there will be more rain and showers, but there will also be some drier, brighter spells in the mix.
Temperatures during the day are expected to remain in the mid to high teens.
