A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with killing a four-year-old boy after a car and an off-road bike were involved in a horror crash.

Cops and emergency services scrambled to Churchill Drive in Newark, Nottinghamshire, at around 6pm on Sunday, following reports of a collision.

The boy, who was a passenger on the off-road bike, was declared dead at the scene.

Now, cops have charged 32-year-old Brian Cameron, of Chatsworth Road, Newark, with a number of offences.

Cameron has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and causing death by driving while uninsured and unlicensed.

He is expected to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old man, who was also on the bike, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Officers were called to Churchill Drive at 6pm on Sunday and believe the motorbike was travelling in convoy with a second bike, whose rider left the scene.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with any information or footage to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The boy’s loved ones continue to be supported by specialist officers and have been informed about this important update in our investigation.

“I would ask that their privacy is respected as they try to come to terms with what has happened.

“This is a deeply distressing incident for all those involved and I’d also urge people not to speculate online about the circumstances.”
