MCDONALD’S fans won’t be peeling stickers off their fast-food favourites this autumn, breaking a tradition stretching back more than two decades.
The chain has confirmed its hugely popular Monopoly promotion will not return to UK restaurants in 2026. But is it gone for good?
Is McDonald’s Monopoly ending in 2026?
There will be no McDonald’s Monopoly in the UK this year.
The company confirmed the news, though it stopped short of saying the game has been permanently axed beyond 2026.
A spokesperson said: “We know how much our customers love our promotions, from the brand-new launch of CARDS in March, to our first-ever Xbox partnership as part of the Side Missions launch.
“We’re always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers, and while Monopoly won’t feature in 2026, we’ll continue listening closely to what they enjoy most as we shape future promotions.”

The UK version has run since 2005, with 2020 the only previous year it was cancelled.
That was due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced McDonald’s to shut its UK restaurants, but the game made a comeback the following year.
In 2025, McDonald’s Monopoly ran from September 10 until October 21.
Customers collected property pieces from selected packaging, with prizes for completing sets such as Mayfair and Park Lane, alongside millions of instant wins and a digital game in the McDonald’s app.

Why is McDonald’s Monopoly being cancelled?
McDonald’s has not given a specific reason for dropping Monopoly from its 2026 calendar.
Instead, the chain has pointed towards the other games and offers it has launched this year.
In March it introduced CARDS, its first own-brand trading card promotion.
Customers buying eligible meals received packs of collectible cards, with certain combinations unlocking prizes through the app.
More than 10.5million cards were collected by the time the promotion finished in May.
“Side Missions” launched on August 25, offering a changing line-up of app discounts on everything from Big Macs to McFlurrys.
The chain has also partnered with Microsoft, letting MyMcDonald’s Rewards members exchange points for digital extras in selected Xbox games.
Will McDonald’s Monopoly return in 2027?
McDonald’s hasn’t said whether its Monopoly promotion will return next year.

The spokesperson only said the game won’t feature in 2026, rather than that its partnership with Monopoly has ended for good.
That leaves the door open for a comeback, but until McDonald’s reveals its plans, fans will have to settle for whatever it has lined up instead.
