JOE LAWS was DISQUALIFIED for headbutting Harley Benn in the first round of their bitter grudge fight.
The rivals had barely got going when Laws, 32, caught Benn, 29, with his head, sending him down and leaving him sprawled on the canvas.
The referee quickly called a halt to proceedings before ruling the headbutt intentional – handing Benn a distasteful DQ victory.
Laws was absolutely furious with the decision as his long-awaited homecoming grudge match ended almost as soon as it had started.
And the atmosphere inside the Utilita Arena turned seriously hostile, with the Geordie crowd loudly booing and making their feelings known.
Benn remained laid out on the canvas after the clash and appeared to milk the effects of the headbutt while officials decided what to do.

But once the result was announced, he suddenly sprang to his feet and celebrated wildly – with even Benn’s initial reaction suggesting he was stunned to have been handed the victory.
He then raced around the ring goading the furious Newcastle crowd, sticking it to the Geordie faithful and only further fuelling the anger inside the arena.
A raging Laws later blasted: “Harley Benn s*** his pants.”
He then turned to Misfits boss Mams Taylor and demanded another shot at his rival, adding: “Mams Taylor, let’s run this back. Harley Benn, you big f****** p****.”

It was another astonishing chapter in a rivalry which had already boiled over during fight week, when Laws and Benn had to be separated amid chaotic scenes at media day.
The pair had also previously been booked to fight in March 2025 before that Misfits event was called off.
Harley is the half-brother of Conor Benn, who faces Ryan Garcia for the WBC welterweight world title in Las Vegas.
And after the chaos served up in Newcastle, fans will be hoping that blockbuster can come anywhere close to producing such a dramatic ending.
