The perpetrators behind the dumping of household waste along a rural roadway in county Monaghan have been warned to do the “honourable thing” before authorities are notified.
Locals in the scenic locality of Bragan in the north of the Farney County were left horrified when the shocking discovery was made at a small layby near the Clogher border on Friday afternoon.
The large consignment of illegal waste contained duvets, pillows, clothes and even library books.
Posting a picture of the dumping on social media, a concerned resident said that while the availability of CCTV close to the scene could yield vital clues, an appeal was made to those behind the incident to remove all of the discarded waste before further action is taken.
“This is a busy road and I am sure someone saw a car, van or Jeep pull in off the road at this spot,” they wrote, appealing to anyone who may have noticed anything untoward to come forward.
“Have you dashcam footage of a vehicle pulling in or out from this spot? There’s CCTV nearby and perhaps it could be checked.
“Could the culprit please do the honourable thing and remove it at once.”
