A 32-year-old man has died after being seriously assaulted at Liverpool Street Underground station while travelling home from Notting Hill Carnival.
The man was attacked on the eastbound Central line platform on Sunday night while waiting for a Tube home from the event.
Emergency services were called to Liverpool Street station at 10.51pm following reports of a serious assault.
The victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition where he later died on September 1 surrounded by his family. They are being supported by specialist officers.

Jeremiah Maximo, 38, was charged with GBH before his death, but British Transport Police will now apply to change this.
Maximo, a British national, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
BTP Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn said: “First and foremost our thoughts are firmly with loved ones of the young man who has sadly died. They are being supported by specially trained officers as our investigation continues.
“The victim was travelling back from Notting Hill Carnival at the time of the incident, and we continue to appeal to anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to police to come forward and assist our investigation.
“Witnesses or anyone with information can contact us by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 799 of 30 August. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
More than 630 people were arrested at Notting Hill Carnival, Met Police confirmed on Tuesday.
Some 242 arrests took place on Sunday, which is Families Day, and 394 on Monday, which is reserved for adults.
Officers made 193 arrests on the approaches to the event, with the remainder taking place within the event footprint.
Despite 243 arrests over the weekend by the end of Sunday, the Metropolitan Police said the mood at Carnival had been “overwhelmingly positive and celebratory”.
Last week, the force said more than 7,000 officers would be deployed to west London over the bank holiday weekend.
The carnival, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, includes parades, live music, street food and sound stages.
