6. Zweigelt had two starts earlier in the year for a third at Murwillumbah and a fifth at Grafton before being spelled. He had two trials before resuming last month at Grafton and hitting the line well with a fourth when beaten less than a length. With the benefit of improvement, he can break through with a maiden win in this event. 5. Sorrenti resumed from a lengthy spell with a second at Grafton behind form galloper I Am Steffi and then ran well again when a last-start third at Ballina when hitting the line well. This looks a nice race for him. 7. Birdy Girl hit the line well from back in the field for a second at this track before a last-start eighth at Tuncurry and she can bounce back here. 8. La Regina has been racing well of late and has place claims.

Race 2
3. Flying Monarch is a Trapeze Artist gelding on debut and has had two barrier trials leading into this. He ran second in the first of them at Casino before winning the second at Murwillumbah. He looks to have the talent to run well here. 1. Rum And Kirk resumed from a spell with a close-up second at Grafton before an eighth at Eagle Farm. That form should stack up in this. 2. Insain Chaos is resuming after a second behind Petticoat in a trial and should run a forward race, while 6. Pearl Pendant was midfield here on resumption and can improve.

Race 3
1. Funky Cold Medina has finished second in each of his past two starts at Gatton and Ballina. He showed speed and held on well last time out and should get a good run from barrier one. 8. Sunset Adios ran fourth at Ipswich at his second start and has had a trial since then. 10. Pointy End debuted with a solid fourth at Newcastle and should be better for that experience. 7. Rubinsky has been placed in four of six starts and warrants consideration.

Race 4
1. Certified Copy was a Rockhampton winner before lining up here last time out and not having the clearest of runs in the straight when finishing second. He’s drawn ideally here and has an apprentice claim to assist his chances. 3. Jewels Statement hit the line well for a last-start win at Grafton and can figure prominently with a repeat. 4. Flying Shelly is talented at best and comes here after a recent trial win. 9. A Touch From Fayt is a last-start Ballina winner that can give cheek.

3. Jade Trees is first-up from a spell and has finished second in both fresh runs. He’s only missed a place in one of six starts and has a win to his name at this track in a small field over the talented Xtreme. 2. Felis Chaus failed to beat a runner home at Newcastle when last produced but has claims on his second at the Gold Coast before that. 1. Lord Vettori resumes after two trials and has the ability to show up. 5. Prince De Vega resumes for a new stable and won the latest of two recent trials.
How to play it: Jade Trees WIN.
Race 6
1. Rich Star is a handy sprinter that won three on end last campaign at Grafton and has since finished second in each of two runs at Taree and Grafton either side of a spell. 4. Humphree Bear has been placed in his latest two starts and can be thereabouts again, while 5. Soho Artist is second-up from a spell and can lift on the resuming effort. 7. Tryanza ran well when a last-start second at Ballina and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Race 7
1. Herald Angel is a consistent performer with two wins and four placings from 10 starts and comes into this on the back of a runaway Ballina victory. She looks at the top of her game and can go on with the job. 4. Zucchero was back in form with a last-start third at Grafton and another placing looms with a repeat. 3. Venom Wolf was a Grafton winner before a last-start fourth here and can be thereabouts. 7. Ausbred Yahoo won here three starts ago and can be in the mix on best form.
How to play it: Herald Angel WIN.
Race 8
1. I Am Voodoo has a huge weight, but the apprentice allowance will help, and he boasts a good record. He should get a good run from barrier two and can be in the thick of things. 2. Cool Fizz has finished midfield in her latest two runs and should figure prominently on her best form. 3. Close To Midnight hasn’t been far away in his latest two starts at Newcastle and has claims. 8. Highland Force was a winner here on debut in February before failing at Grafton. She resumes here.
